Sustainability is at the core of BAM's strategy: not because of regulations but because we genuinely believe we have an important role to play in building a sustainable tomorrow. Internal Audit needs to grow in line with the company's ambitions and have the right capabilities and skills to be best-in-class. Therefore we are looking to expand our team with an internal audit manager with a strong focus on Sustainability/ESG.
What are you going to do
Your role focuses on providing assurance and advisory services regarding Sustainability, including governance, risk management, data collection and cultural aspects. Emphasis is on the internal strategy and organization, with attention to external reporting requirements and collaboration with external assurance providers. Working with an enthusiastic and skilled team of five direct colleagues and guest auditors, you will evaluate activities, monitor action plans, and promote knowledge sharing within BAM. More specifically you will:
- Provide independent and objective assurance and advice in relation to ESG;
- Conduct reviews in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Belgium;
- Communicate with all levels in our organisation and collaborate strongly with second line functions (e.g. Sustainability, ESG reporting, Procurement, HR, SHEQ, IT). Regular reporting and discussing improvement areas with divisional and business senior management is part of your job;
- Advise on good practices and improvements that can be made regarding governance, risk management and control;
- Participate in other Internal Audit activities depending on capacity and expertise required.

- A salary between € 6.640,- and € 8.300,- gross per month, depending on your knowledge and experience. This is based on a 40-hour working week and excludes 8% holiday pay;

As an internal audit manager, success requires adaptability, teamwork, and strong communication skills. You must navigate diverse perspectives, manage relationships in a multicultural setting and demonstrate accountability. Your analytical skills, proactive approach, and ability to inspire others contribute to BAM's overall performance improvement. You have:
- Demonstrable Sustainability risk management and/or auditing experience, preferably in large/listed companies;
- A graduate degree in auditing with a minimum of 10 years relevant working experience, including soft control assessments;
- Good knowledge of and experience with ESG requirements like CSRD, ESRS, CSDDD;
- Strong analytical, organizational, stakeholder management, influencing, and collaborative skills, with international construction industry experience as a plus.
