Mattel’s iSeries Team is part of the Global Technology Organization (GTO). The iSeries team is responsible for managing, supporting and developing our core system in AS400. This is a global team that supports commercial, supply, logistics, finance and organization across the world in the following regions: Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. The OpportunityThe Solution Architect, iSeries plays a key role in translating business needs into scalable, robust, and future‑ready solutions across Mattel’s core iSeries (AS/400) platform. This role operates at the intersection of business and technology, working closely with commercial and supply chain stakeholders to design end‑to‑end solutions and integrations across the enterprise landscape. As part of the Global Technology Organization (GTO), the Solution Architect provides hands‑on architectural leadership across initiatives, ensuring alignment with platform standards, enterprise architecture, and global strategies. This role has a regional focus, partnering closely with business and technology teams to support regional priorities, enhancements, and continuous improvement of iSeries applications.
What Your Impact Will Be Solution Design & Architecture- Translate business requirements into end‑to‑end solution designs for iSeries applications and integrations with enterprise platforms.
- Define scalable, maintainable, and secure architectures aligned with enterprise standards and platform strategy.
- Perform impact analysis for proposed changes, ensuring alignment with existing system landscape and minimizing complexity.
- Drive design decisions across projects, balancing business needs, technical feasibility, and long‑term sustainability.
- Collaborate closely with regional business analysts to refine requirements and translate them into scalable and effective solution designs.
- Define and guide application configuration as part of the overall solution design, ensuring alignment with business requirements and architectural standards.
- Provide hands‑on architectural guidance across projects, supporting design, development, testing, and deployment activities.
- Guide development teams on technical design, coding standards, and best practices within the iSeries environment.
- Ensure consistency and quality of solution implementations across regions and initiatives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development standards, frameworks, and reusable components.
- Support the delivery of regional enhancements and bug fixes across iSeries applications, ensuring solutions align with architectural standards and platform strategy.
- Provide technical guidance on incident resolution and ticket triage, helping teams determine effective and sustainable solutions.
- Guide and validate application configuration during implementation to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with approved designs.
- Design and guide integrations between iSeries applications and other enterprise platforms, ensuring seamless data flow and process alignment.
- Ensure solutions align with broader enterprise architecture and cross‑platform dependencies.
- Identify opportunities to standardize and reuse solutions across regions to reduce duplication and complexity.
- Collaborate closely with iSeries infrastructure teams on platform‑related topics such as backups, disaster recovery, and environment stability, ensuring alignment with architectural requirements and business continuity needs.
- Support regional application lifecycle activities, including enhancements, defect resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with regional stakeholders and business analysts to clarify requirements and prioritize solution approaches.
- Participate in ticket discussions and provide direction on resolution strategies, ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
- Support and oversee application configuration activities related to regional enhancements and fixes, ensuring adherence to design and platform standards.
- Balance regional needs with global standards, ensuring consistency while enabling local flexibility.
- Take end‑to‑end ownership of solution design and delivery within assigned initiatives.
- Take ownership of solution outcomes within the region, ensuring timely and effective delivery of enhancements, fixes, and improvements.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy, proactively identifying issues and driving them to resolution.
- Adapt to multiple roles within projects, including solution design, technical leadership, and hands‑on support when needed.
- Collaborate effectively across global, cross‑functional teams in a matrixed environment.
- 8‑10 years of experience in IBM iSeries (AS/400) environments
- Proficiency in RPGLE, CLLE, RPG/400, SQLRPGLE, DB2/400
- Solid understanding of ILE concepts (service programs, procedures, modules)
- Experience with batch processing, job scheduling, and system performance tuning
- Hands‑on experience with debugging, root cause analysis, and system optimization
- Experience in designing and implementing integrations (e.g., EDI or other enterprise platforms)
- Proven experience translating business requirements into functional and technical designs
- Strong understanding of supply chain and Order‑to‑Cash processes
- Experience performing impact analysis and designing scalable solutions
- Experience guiding development teams and enforcing development standards
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and tools such as ServiceNow, JIRA
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders
- Ownership and accountability for deliverables and outcomes
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, global environment

- Gross annual salary range of EUR 91,200 - EUR 108,300 (incl. 8% holiday allowance)
- Bonus scheme: Participation in Mattel Incentive Plan (MIP) with the target of 15% of base salary, payout determined by company and individual performance results
