Solution Architect - Payments (ID: 3427)

As a Solution Architect (Payments) you will:

• Lead the architecture and design of complex payment solutions across core banking environments.
• Design end-to-end payment execution workflows including orchestration, order management, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, exception handling and returns.
• Own solution design for ISO 20022 implementations across multiple payment schemes. Define functional and logical architectures, system interactions, and integration patterns.
• Govern technical designs produced by engineering teams, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and long-term strategy.

What You Bring to the table:

• 10+ years of overall IT experience with at least 5+ years as a Solution Architect in banking and financial services.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in core banking payments execution including orchestration, clearing, settlement, reconciliations and returns.
• In‑depth knowledge of payment schemes such as Bacs, Faster Payments, CHAPS, SWIFT, SEPA and Cheques.
• Expert‑level understanding of ISO 20022 including message structures, mandatory/optional elements, data mapping, validation and cross‑scheme differences.
• Proven experience designing and governing end‑to‑end ISO 20022 solutions in large‑scale payment transformation programs.
• Experience with architecture frameworks and modelling tools such as C4, TOGAF, ArchiMate and similar enterprise architecture approaches.
• Strong knowledge of integration and messaging patterns, including ESB, event‑driven architectures and API‑based integrations.
• Familiarity with cloud and microservices platforms, including AWS and containerized environments.

You Should Possess the Ability to:

• Explain payment scheme rules, message flows and settlement models in detail.
• Design robust, scalable payment architectures for high‑volume banking environments.
• Translate business requirements into clear functional and logical architecture designs.
• Define and document system interactions, interfaces and integration patterns.
• Operate independently in fast‑moving, high‑pressure environments.
• Engage confidently with senior stakeholders, business leaders and engineering teams.
