The Netherlands has long been a hub for financial trading, and this company aims to maintain its position as such. They are a high-frequency trading firm that lives and breathes technology. For every trader on the floor, at least two developers are working hard behind the scenes. Make no mistake, IT is their core business. In such a competitive market, speed, performance and reliability are everything. And that is exactly where you come in.
To speed up innovation and boost productivity across the company, a new team is forming. They are looking for the best IT Operations Engineers to join them on some of the most challenging projects around. You will be the one keeping all systems, networks, and devices running smoothly so traders, engineers, and everyone else can do their best work without tech slowing them down.
What about the role?
As a member of this A-team, you see every part of the organization and look for ways to improve it. From speeding up decision-making and deployments to optimizing trading algorithms for performance.
Faster? Okay, your task!
- Provide full-time on-site first, second and third-line support
- Keep physical and virtual desktops running smoothly
- Manage infrastructure like O365 Active Directory Email Mobile Device Management and audiovisual systems
- Deploy updates for Windows and macOS ,including apps like Adobe and Java
- Install fix and modify hardware and software such as servers desktops and printers
- Troubleshoot network issues escalating and documenting when needed
- Help Facilities Management with desk and equipment moves
For example, if traders have slow or unstable connections during critical meetings, you diagnose the network, fix the issue, and make sure it doesn't happen again. You take ownership, work independently and help build a scalable IT environment that keeps everything moving.
Now you have my attention
You bring a strong drive to learn and develop yourself, both technically and personally. You're curious and want to understand why things work the way they do how to improve and automate tasks, and how to use technology to make the whole setup more reliable. Not only that, but you're a self-starter who works with urgency and prioritizes based on business needs. You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in an ICT-related field and live in the Netherlands. At least 2 years of experience in a similar fast-paced IT operations role is a must. Your English is solid, both written and spoken, since you'll work with a diverse team.
You're confident with Windows and Mac operating systems, and Linux experience is a nice plus. Troubleshooting and solving problems proactively and creatively are your thing. You're also willing to get hands-on with physical tasks like desk moves and room setups. Since the IT Ops team works fully on-site, you're ready to be in the office full-time and hit the ground running.
So this trading thing, what does it pay?
Pretty damn well, to be honest. You'll start with a base salary between €50.000,- and €65 000,- gross a year, plus a year-end bonus so big you could practically buy yourself a car.
