We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Developer to join our team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our technology solutions.

If you are based in the Netherlands and would you like to work a couple of days per week at our eco-friendly office in Utrecht and also from the comfort of your home or at our client, then you might be the person we’re looking for!

As a Lead Developer, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, and implementation of complex, scalable, and secure digital experience systems. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work with a talented team on cutting‑edge projects, directly impacting the success of our clients and the growth of our organization. You will have the opportunity to lead the development team and determine the direction of the solutions implemented in cooperation with the architect.

Role responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to the development team and help implement complex, enterprise‑level digital experience solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements, technical standards, and best practices.
• Set coding standards, perform code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Act as the go‑to person for solving complex technical issues.
• Mentor developers and support their growth through coaching, pair programming and feedback, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Participate in agile ceremonies like planning, stand‑ups, and retrospectives; help estimate effort and complexity.
• Take ownership on delivery timelines, whilst maintaining quality standards
• Work closely with product owners, business analysts and other stakeholders to refine technical requirements.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Support pre‑sales activities and provide estimates for solutions that you are experienced in.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, performant, and maintainable, adhering to established architectural standards and guidelines.
• Contribute to the evolution and drive the improvement of our coding standards and related best practices by working with and in our craft circles.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus. Or similar work experience.
• 6+ years of experience as a Developer, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex, enterprise‑scale solutions.
• Technology stacks around Optimizely (DXP & CMS), Contentstack, Contentful and/or similar systems, having a proven track record and certificates with at least one of them.
• Hands on experience with frontend frameworks like React.js/Next.js and Vue.js/Nuxt.js
• Knowledge of / experience with commerce systems and their typical ecosystems.
• Knowledge of / experience with cloud providers like Azure, AWS and/or GCP.
• Knowledge of / experience with front end cloud hosting providers like Vercel, Netlify, etc.
• Hand on experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD, project bootstrap and maintenance, release management (having worked with a monorepo and/or feature flags is a plus)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex technical information to your team and (ideally) beyond.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Fluent proficiency in English, and proficiency in Dutch is a big plus. Experience with the Manufacturing and/or Retail market is a plus
