The Team
Providing seamless, digital services with robust 'always on' channels, and using our scalable ING the Netherlands provides banking services within the Netherlands and beyond. Our team is responsible for structurally guarding the reliability & resilience of our IT and critical banking services.
Role and Responsibilities
- Analysing requirements from SRE Subject Matter Experts on building reports and dashboards providing valuable insights in ING's engineering activities
- Building-up knowledge on the required data sources and make these easily reusable by other BI engineers, therefor we aim for a commitment to join the team for 1 to 2 years at least
- Building and improving the product offering of these reports and dashboards together with existing teams in ING Tech owning an existing Data Warehouse
- Responsible for working with other teams in the SRE & Engineering Enablement organization to identify relevant data sources and design a sustainable process for data mining and data modelling
- For more senior candidates, responsible for providing technical direction and mentoring to less experienced team members
- Establish a structure for analysing and actioning Engineering Intelligence data in order to improve and optimize ING's IT Reliability and Resilience
- Collaborate with IT stakeholders to define requirements, mappings, and data source profiling and transform them into innovative BI solutions
- Build high-performance algorithms, predictive models, and prototypes
- Integrate up-and-coming data management and software engineering technologies into existing data structures.
- Research new uses for existing data.
- Employ an array of technological languages and tools to connect systems together or be willing to learn new scripting languages and methods
- Recommend different ways to constantly improve data reliability and quality.
- Contributes to creation and support of BI development standards and best practices

- You have a solid command of the English language, both spoken and written
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software/computer engineering, applied mathematics, or statistics preferred. Equivalent experience ok, too.
- Experience as a data engineer or analyst
- Demonstrable analytical skills and problem solving skills needed to manage multiple technical challenges simultaneously.
- You are capable of assessing new initiatives to determine the work effort and estimate complexity
- A thorough mastery of SQL and Power BI
- Hands-on expertise in Python programming (preferred, not required)
- You have the ability to present solutions and provide clear documentation of all steps, so that data sets are not only useable, but sustainable
- Intellectual curiosity to find new and unusual ways of how to solve data management issues.
- You have a continuous improvement mindset and some experience working in an Agile team or a squad
