DescriptionAbout the team:Our Legal team plays a key role in enabling safe, scalable growth across Vintage Cash Cow and Arcavindi. Working closely with UK counterparts, the EU Legal function ensures we operate compliantly across multiple jurisdictions while enabling smooth, scalable growth.
About the role:As EU Legal Counsel, you’ll lead legal support for our European operations, advising on cross-border matters and country-specific regulations. Reporting into senior leadership, you’ll ensure compliance across EU jurisdictions while partnering with teams to enable growth.
This role is central to our European expansion, helping us navigate regulatory complexity, localise our approach, and build strong legal foundations in new markets.
This is a hands-on role with broad exposure, ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and working closely with non-legal teams to solve real business challenges.
Getting Started...- Develop a clear understanding of our European strategy, markets, and operating model.
- Map key regulatory requirements across priority EU countries.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across operations, commercial, and leadership.
- Get up to speed on our business model, regulatory landscape, and key contractual frameworks.
- Review and assess current legal processes, identifying immediate risks and quick wins.
- Become the primary legal advisor for EU operations.
- Identify and mitigate regulatory risks across multiple jurisdictions.
- Establish scalable frameworks for contracts and compliance across Europe.
- Create consistent yet locally compliant legal approaches across EU markets.
- Enable faster, lower-risk expansion into new countries.
- Drive best practice in cross-border legal operations and governance.
- Ensure 100% compliance with EU regulatory requirements across operations.
- Support successful entry into new EU markets.
- Maintain high-quality legal documentation and risk mitigation standards.
- Partner effectively with Commercial, Product, and Operations teams.
- Collaborate closely with UK Legal, Commercial, and Operations teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in cross-border legal processes.
- Provide legal advice on EU-wide and country-specific regulations.
- Draft and negotiate cross-border commercial agreements.
- Ensure compliance with EU laws including GDPR, consumer protection, and e-commerce regulations.
- Support market entry into new countries, including regulatory assessments and setup.
- Manage external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
- Develop scalable legal frameworks that balance consistency with local requirements.
- Partner with internal teams to support growth initiatives across Europe.
- Qualified lawyer in an EU jurisdiction (or equivalent).
- Strong experience in EU law, particularly cross-border commercial and regulatory matters.
- Knowledge of AML and labour law
- Deep understanding of GDPR and EU consumer regulations.
- Experience supporting multi-country operations or expansion.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across cultures.
- Highly organised, adaptable, and commercially minded.
- Fluent in English (additional European languages a plus).
