About the roleWe are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Accounting Team. You will report to the Accounting Manager and work closely together with other stakeholders both within the finance team (finance business partners) and outside (e.g. HR and Tech team). Furthermore you will also take part in special projects supporting strategic objectives. Because we are growing fast, the tasks and responsibilities of this role may change over time and you will be excited to take on new challenges and responsibilities as they occur.
Our team is split between Groningen and Amsterdam and therefore it's up to you where you will be based. However, we do expect that you are willing to travel to Amsterdam or Groningen whenever this is needed.
What you'll do- Complete the monthly closing process for various entities within Catawiki, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, detailed supporting analysis and relevant documentation.
- Support the payroll team with monthly processes and review the payroll journals and supporting documentation.
- Review and perform variance analysis on balance sheet and profit and loss accounts during the closing procedures.
- Work closely with external providers (local accountants and external auditors) to ensure that the organization is compliant with the local regulations and to ensure the accounting is done appropriately.
- Provide technical accounting advice within your area of expertise to functional managers to help them understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities.
- Support the tax team with all kind of tax related matters (e.g. VAT / WKR / BUA).
- Drive initiatives and projects and actively drive continuous process improvements and innovations.
- Act as a connected business partner for internal stakeholders on tasks and projects with a cross functional impact.
- Drive standardization and creation of centralized processes, automation and simplification of tasks.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in accounting
- Minimum HBO education level
- Knowledge of Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS
- Open and transparent communication
- Takes ownership for responsibilities
- Have an eye for detail (accuracy is important)
- Able to cope with a dynamic and high change environment
- Team player but also able to work independently
- A structured, organised approach and a positive attitude
- Experience with Workday (as financial system), is a plus
- Knowledge of VAT, BUA and WKR legislation is a plus
- Fluent in English
- Our preference would be for candidates that reside in the Netherlands at their time of application and already have the required documentation to be able to work.

Our experts and sales staff in local markets work 100% remotely - in most cases from home. Some key positions are hired remotely, while we also offer relocation services for colleagues needing to be closer to the office.
