What do you do as a junior consultant in hydraulic engineering? Are you a recent graduate and ready to take the first step in your career? This position offers an excellent opportunity to further develop yourself in hydraulic engineering. In this role, you'll be trained as a consultant and assist governments, contractors, and project developers with various challenges related to hydraulic structures and flood defenses. You'll contribute to exciting projects that directly impact the water safety of the Netherlands, such as dike reinforcements, flood defense assessments, and other complex hydraulic engineering tasks. Within projects, you'll be involved in various stages of the process, including assessments, planning studies, designs, and permitting trajectories. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to explore, together with colleagues, how digitalization, data analysis, and smart technologies can be applied to improve and make testing and analysis services more efficient. This way, you combine technical expertise, innovation, and societal impact in a position where you can develop quickly and gain valuable experience. You enjoy doing the following: - Surprising clients with solid and reliable advice; - Working on complex issues related to water safety; - Diving into technical content while also organizing the work yourself; - Collaborating within a group of young professionals; - Learning from colleagues and further developing yourself in your field; - Thinking about ways to improve work processes through digitalization. Who do you collaborate with? You'll work closely with colleagues within the Water advisory group, as well as specialists from other disciplines. During your development program, you'll receive intensive guidance from an experienced colleague who acts as your coach and sparring partner. Additionally, you may occasionally be assigned to work onsite at one of the clients. Therefore, we're looking for someone who is not only technically skilled but also easily connects and collaborates effectively with both clients and colleagues. A flying start To ensure you get off to a good start, you will go through an extensive onboarding program. During this period, you'll receive personalized guidance from an experienced colleague who will familiarize you with the organization and whom you can approach with practical questions. You'll also get to know colleagues from various teams and attend various training sessions and knowledge-sharing sessions. This allows you to quickly gain insights into the organization, projects, and way of working, while building a valuable internal network from day one. Outside of work, there are plenty of opportunities to get to know your colleagues better, for instance, through activities and networking events that are regularly organized. This way, you'll quickly feel at home and connect informally with colleagues from across the country.
What we expect from you
