About the Dutch Marine Energy Sector

Marine energy refers to renewable energy that can be generated from the world's oceans, seas and rivers. This energy can be converted into reliable, sustainable and cost-competitive electricity that can be used for power homes, transport and industries. By 2050 marine energy can provide 10% of Europe's current electricity consumption. This will generate 400,000 jobs across Europe and will deliver high-value economic activity to coastal regions.

The Netherlands have technological leadership in all 4 of these categories, thanks to its industrial base, its history of innovation and its unique relationship with the sea.
