About this role:

We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join our dynamic Sales Analytics team at Just Eat Takeaway.com. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, delivering, and enhancing cutting-edge machine learning applications that drive key sales operations. Your work will directly accelerate restaurant performance, improve sales forecasting accuracy, and enrich experiences for our customers, restaurants, and drivers. As a core part of the Sales Strategy and Operations team, you will collaborate extensively across multiple departments, acting as a center of technical excellence for data science and machine learning best practices. This role offers the exciting opportunity to lead projects from inception to deployment, ensuring significant business impact through innovative machine learning solutions.

• Independently lead and deliver impactful data science projects from proof-of-concept to full deployment, collaborating closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure measurable business results.
• Mentor, coach, and provide technical leadership to junior data scientists, fostering their growth and expertise within the team.
• Provide expert technical guidance and consultation on complex AI issues and solution feasibility to business stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Collaborate with data scientists across the organization to establish best practices, define standards, and cultivate a vibrant community of excellence.
• Proactively identify strategic opportunities for improvement across our data science landscape, ensuring critical issues are addressed swiftly and effectively.

• Extensive proven experience working as a data scientist, particularly in applying machine learning and statistical methods to solve complex, real-world problems in autonomous and production environments.
• Previous experience in commercial teams (sales/ marketing) with a proven ability to deliver quick, impactful wins in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• A PhD or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Econometrics is highly desirable.
• Strong hands-on experience in causal inference modeling, online experimentation, large language models (LLMs), and revenue-driving machine learning projects such as upsell prediction, lead scoring models, time series forecasting, and Next-Best-Action systems.
• Proven experience with cloud and big data technologies such as Google Vertex AI, Optimus, Airflow, and handling large-scale datasets in platforms like BigQuery.
• Exceptional proficiency in Python, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and production-grade code beyond Jupyter notebooks.
• Strong skills in SQL databases, coupled with extensive experience working with tools such as Spark in cloud environments.
• Proven experience working with CRM systems like Salesforce and HubSpot.
• Significant experience working in both traditional Waterfall and Agile projects, with a solid understanding of code reviews and source control best practices using GitHub.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of translating complex data-driven insights and collaborating effectively with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders. This includes the ability to effectively work with and influence critical business stakeholders at a leadership level.

As a Lead Data Scientist in the Sales Strategy and Operations team, you will report directly to the Head of Sales Analytics.
