Senior Investment Manager Energy Transition

Job Summary

As a Senior Investment Manager, you’ll be providing growth‑capital to high‑growth maturing sustainable companies driving the energy transition, domiciled in North‑western Europe. You will be part of the SIF team and responsible for all activities related to origination, execution of investments, portfolio management and the exit of portfolio companies with a focus on Energy. You will be one of our experts in Energy Transition and report to Tanja Kramer, Head of SIF.

Responsibilities Origination and Execution

• Develop a robust deal pipeline by continually evaluating potential target companies and investment theses within the SIF strategy
• Drive origination activities, conduct market assessments and pro‑actively reach out to potential target companies
• Construction of financial models, including optimal capital structure, purchase price, adjustments and sensitivities to economic conditions
• Lead the execution process for M&A transactions and investments, including financial and impact due diligence, structuring legal agreements, negotiations and work towards closing
• Represent and drive deal approvals to the Investment Committee

Portfolio management

• Manage and monitor portfolio company financial and impact performance and manage (quarterly) portfolio reviews and analyses
• Collaborate with portfolio company management teams to implement value‑creation strategies, reaching milestones, follow‑on investments and actively manage companies to exit
• Provide hands‑on guidance and assistance to management teams of the portfolio companies in critical areas of strategy, operations, business development and governance
• Act as Board member or Board observer on behalf of SIF in portfolio companies

Networking

• Proactively build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders including entrepreneurs, sector experts, consultants, policymakers, co‑investors, advisors and thought leaders
• Be an ambassador, attend events and further build on the SIF and Corporate Investments brand awareness and recognition

Leadership and team development

• Mentor and supervise junior investment professionals, fostering analytical excellence and professional growth
• Contribute to internal process improvements and knowledge sharing within the SIF team, Corporate Investments and relevant teams within ABN AMRO

Your Profile

The ideal candidate for this position has a passion for sustainability and investing in an international environment, in particular impact investing. He/she has a university degree experience in a relevant field.

• Over 10 years of prior work experience as an investment manager in venture capital, private equity, corporate venturing and / or entrepreneurial experience
• Seasoned investor. Proven expertise in Energy Transition required
• Strong strategic and tactical skills in investments/private equity, deal analysis, negotiations, and the management of advisors. Can independently play a leading/principal role during transactions
• Attention to detail to make sure all legal and financial matters are handled with precision
• Naturally connects and builds strong relationships with others, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
• Entrepreneurial and creative way‑of‑working and open‑minded to innovative ideas and trends
• High degree of integrity and the ability to act in a transparent and consistent manner while always taking into account what is best for the organisation and the team
• Self‑reflective and aware of their own limitations. Leads by example and drives the team’s performance with an attitude of continuous improvement by being open to feedback and self‑improvement
• A clear alignment with the impact goals of SIF and a belief in entrepreneurship and innovation as solutions to environmental issues

About ABN AMRO Corporate Investments

SIF is part of Corporate Investments, ABN AMRO’s expertise centre for equity and near‑equity investments. It consists of three teams of approximately 30 people focused on initiating, structuring, managing and providing investments through the Sustainable Impact Fund, Fund Investments, Specialised Finance and direct lending through Hybrid Capital and Subordinated Debt.
