Senior QA Engineer | SurePayLocation: Hybrid from Utrecht | Competitive Salary | FinTech SaaS | 1 Day/Week in Office
To keep things reliable at scale, we’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer to lead the way in ensuring software quality across our products. You’ll join a multidisciplinary team of developers, DevOps engineers, and product experts, building secure, scalable systems in Java, Kotlin, and AWS.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll own test strategy, drive automation, and help shape how we build and release software. If you care deeply about clean code, stable systems, and continuous improvement…you’ll feel right at home.
The opportunityYou won’t just be writing tests. You’ll be setting the standard for how we approach quality across performance, security, integration, and reliability. You’ll mentor others, work closely with stakeholders, and help bring products to market that are robust, resilient, and ready to scale.

What you’ll do- Own and evolve our QA strategy, test architecture, and automation frameworks
- Build and maintain API test automation using Java/Kotlin
- Ensure solid performance and load testing using tools like JMeter, BlazeMeter, or Gatling
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and product to embed quality across the pipeline
- Validate integrations with 3rd-party components like Elastic and Apigee Edge
- Partner with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines and test coverage in AWS-native environments
- Act as QA lead on projects, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Mentor junior QA engineers and champion a culture of quality throughout the organisation
- Participate in client-facing troubleshooting and problem-solving when issues arise
You’re a detail-oriented, proactive QA professional who can think like an engineer, a customer, and a business stakeholder often all at once. You care deeply about how things work (and break), and you’ve built your career on making sure nothing ships until it’s ready.
Must-haves- 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Software Testing
- Proven experience writing automated API tests in Java or Kotlin
- Experience with CI/CD in modern DevOps environments
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle and test pyramid principles
- Hands-on with AWS services and Linux-based environments
- Knowledge of performance testing tools and methodologies
- Strong communicator who can collaborate across disciplines and lead by example
- Experience with Open Banking, payment systems, or financial services
- Knowledge of Elastic, Apigee, or similar platform components
- Understanding of security testing and compliance in regulated environments
