Ensure that the manufacturing production assets are operated in a HSE responsible manner, complying with our external and internal legislative requirements and guaranteeing the safety & health of our employees and visitors on site.
Lead the manufacturing team of the plant in a coaching, motivating and managing manner to meet all requirements regarding safety and quality. Take the driver’s seat in building a culture of trust, ownership and focus.
Responsible for the execution of the production plan and taking corrective actions in order to achieve the demanded output. Responsible for arranging the necessary troubleshooting. When needed be available by phone for support out of normal office hours.
Drive process & operation optimization and continuous improvement to achieve both operational effectiveness and efficiency.
Monitor reliability/maintenance relative performance together with reliability organizations and responsible to manage maintenance activities from production site.
Drive projects, e.g. Cost saving, performance improvement, investments, integrations to support site/company strategy realization. Although you are not the lead of the projects you take the ownership for your organization to be successful, also department-overarching.
You will report directly to the Site Manager of Waalwijk.
You will be responsible for a department of approximately 65 FTE, of which 9 employees directly report to you.
The Challenge
As the Plant Manager you are going to lead the PAC (PolyACrylates) plant consisting of 5 shifts and its staff. With this team you are responsible to run production safely and reliably whilst continuously improving the quality, output and cost.
The department is on a journey to the standards with a focus on HSE, leadership and operational discipline. In this role we are looking for a talented and ambitious people manager who is able to express his own vision for Emulsions and drive the needed change in our organization. If you are that talent we will invest in your development and give you the opportunity to develop into senior management positions in Operations in Waalwijk or other Covestro locations.

The Management Team needs someone who:
- Builds a strong connect with the other stakeholders especially the Maintenance Manager, Utilities Manager, HSE, HR, Supply Chain and Finance.
- Joins us driving the future of the Waalwijk site by contribution to our vision becoming 1st choice in terms of reliability, quality and great workplace.
WHO ARE YOU?
- Academic or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or Chemistry.
- Experience with operational manufacturing work processes and several years of working experience in production sites.
- Several years’ experience in production management is a preference.
- Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing / LEAN 6σ and Continuous improvement processes.
- Good team player, positive working attitude and a high customer orientation.
- Strong people leadership skills, macro-management way of working.
- Able to work in an international, cross-functional and intercultural team.
- Fluency in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
