Dit ga je doenWe are currently seeking a highly motivated biostatistician to join our expanding team of clinical trial statisticians and statistical consultants. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, analysis, and interpretation of complex clinical studies conducted within our hospital. The position involves substantial involvement in the research activities at our intensive care unit (approximately 2–3 days per week), offering a unique opportunity to work closely with clinicians on methodologically challenging and clinically relevant questions using a richness of data. Responsibilities include the statistical design and analysis of randomized clinical trials, target trial emulation using observational data, and the application of advanced methods for longitudinal and prediction modelling. You will also conduct methodological research on Bayesian methods and other innovative methodology for clinical trials. The role provides exposure to a broad range of modern biostatistical methodologies and encourages methodological development in an interdisciplinary academic environment. This position is particularly well suited to early-career statisticians with a strong interest in applied methodology, complex data structures, and impactful clinical research.

The department is embedded within the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care. The Julius Center is one of the 10 divisions of the UMC Utrecht and aims for a leading role in the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge in the field of Health Sciences and Primary Care. The Julius Center distinguishes itself through high quality scientific research and education. The Data Science and Biostatistics department focuses on innovative clinical trial methodology, health data science and real word data analyses. The department has an academic staff consisting of biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and data scientists and around 20 PhD students and a strong focus on clinical trial methodology, health data science and real-world evidence.
Dit neem je meeThe successful candidate is a biostatistician with a PhD degree, preferably in statistics, biostatistics, biometrics or a related field. Ideally you have experience with applying a wide range of statistical techniques in (clinical) research and experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams. You have the ability to communicate statistical ideas to non-specialists.
