The Contract Administrator reports to Procurement Associate Director.  He/she is responsible for researching, negotiating, establishing terms and conditions, and administering engineering and construction contracts, and vendor/supplier agreements to assure continuity of quality, supply and service at the best value for Merck.  He/she shall provide early procurement involvement during the specification setting for the defined requirement, to ensure proper commercial viability.
The incumbent’s primary activities will include the planning, requisition review, supplier evaluation/recommendation, Request-for-Proposal (RFP) preparation, Contract preparation, and subsequent contract administration.  He/she will provide the necessary expediting and tracking for the purchased goods and services during the entire procurement cycle.  He/she investigates and recommends programs and/or procedures involving cost reduction for assigned Capital Projects.  As Merck’s procurement representative, he/she oversees the Projects’ Architect/Engineers’ development of construction work and equipment packages during the design development phases,  to ensure alignment with Merck Project Procurement Plans and overall Merck Global Capital Procurement strategies.  During the Projects’ procurement and construction phases, he/she oversees the Construction Managers’ procurement of Subcontractor work-in-place and equipment purchases, operating within Merck Corporate and Merck local-site procurement policies and procedures.  He/she works closely with site procurement personnel, Corporate Procurement Commodity Management organisation, the Project teams and the Construction Managers’ procurement personnel to establish, integrate, control and maintain effective procurement processes. 


Education:         BS/MS in Business Administration, Logistics, Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience/knowledge of commercial activities associated with engineering construction projects.  MBA and/or CPM would be desirable.
Knowledge:      Strong knowledge of how to plan and manage Capital projects, including the use of outside Engineering and Construction Management firms.  Working knowledge of procurement process, including familiarity with activities such as requisitioning and purchasing of materials, supplier interactions, contract negotiations, establishing of commercial terms and conditions, construction purchasing, contract negotiations.  Working knowledge of contract law, local regulations, and policies, as applied to the construction industry. Knowledge of processes and capabilities of  major engineering/contractor firms, as well as construction subcontractor base is desirable.


We can not offer in depended contractors this position.  we offer a fulltime position for the a longer period. The salary rage for this position is between the €5000 and €6000 a month.
