What you will be doing

As a Senior Consultant/Project Manager at Roland Berger focusing on financial services, you will further develop deep insight into the workings of one of the most dynamic and critical sectors of the economy. You will assume significant responsibilities and become an integral part of Roland Berger's expanding practice.

You will discover abundant opportunities for advancing your professional growth as you navigate through challenging and rewarding projects. The projects primarily take place in a European setting and are very diverse. The work is interdisciplinary and creativity and a pragmatic mindset are key factors to success. The focus lies on pressing strategic topics (for example digitalization, AI/data analytics and sustainability) that are currently reshaping the financial services landscape and which require all financial services players to launch new propositions and realize large-scale transformations.

At Roland Berger we differentiate ourselves by listening carefully to our clients and working intensively with them on tailor-made solutions. Working closely with senior leadership at leading banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions, you will analyze market trends, develop strategic recommendations, and be involved in the implementation of actionable plans to drive sustainable success. By advising top-tier financial institutions on their strategies, you play a direct role in shaping the direction of these organizations and, by extension, the broader financial ecosystem.

As a Senior Consultant / Project Manager at Roland Berger you will:
  • Take the lead for modules in larger projects, and complete project management of smaller projects (typically leading three to five consultants), with a specific focus on financial services.
  • Coach and develop the consultants in your project teams.
  • Have direct client contact and lead presentations during client meetings.
  • Work closely with industry experts at Roland Berger.
  • Contribute to Roland Berger’s knowledge development by capturing insights and drawing lessons from client work.
  • Participate in office-wide projects (e.g. In-depth studies on current topics) that further develop Roland Berger or its thinking in a specific area or sector.

Do you recognize yourself in the following qualifications, competencies and skills?
  • You have completed an academic university education (i.e. WO).
  • You have between four and ten years of experience in strategy consulting, with a distinct focus on the financial services domain, and/or in a strategic/operational role at a financial institution (e.g. Bank, insurance, asset management), with prior involvement in project-based work being highly advantageous.
  • You can think analytically and structure arguments clearly.
  • You work with precision.
  • You are open-minded.
  • You have experience managing others and delegating work to more junior team members.
  • You are familiar with/experienced in (financial) modeling (Excel), visualizing presentations (PowerPoint) and storytelling.
  • You have good oral, written and presentation skills and an excellent command of the English language.

Application process

The application process consists of three parts. Firstly, a selective cognitive assessment that is conducted online and monitored via Microsoft Teams. If you complete the assessment with a satisfactory result, you will be invited to the First round of interviews. This round includes two case interviews and a personal interview. Following a positive outcome from these interviews, candidates will progress to the Final Day. The Final Day involves two (case) interviews with different Partners and/or Principals, as well as a written case with a presentation component. At the conclusion of the Final Day, you will receive feedback on the outcome of your application process.
