The Medtronic IT Global User Services (GUS) is looking for a Solution Architect who will help us drive the future experience for the 90.000+ employees across the globe. You will focus on solution-level decisions and analysis of their impact on the overall business goals and outcomes.

A Day in the Life

The Solution Architect is a key factor in our employee centric-driven development. You will work on a big transformation project which cover multiple products, technologies and multiple value streams. You will Define the ‘how’ within the solution and work closely with the UX team, Product owner, Development team and Architecture.

The Solution Architect functions as a liaison between the service owners and the technology teams, asking the right questions to establish the exact definition of what needs to be done for each employee journey and feature before development is started. Suggest the best solution according to the incoming requirements and existing environment. The product and deliverables of a solution architect is the set of technological solutions and the strategy of the implementation. She or he monitors the process of development and keeps stakeholders informed about the progress. Supports project activities to ensure that resources, risk recognition, and planning stay aligned with the solution goals.

Tasks And Responsibilities:

  • Hands on solution architect who has experience ,or a strong willingness to learn, following but not exclusive technologies: Digital adoption platform, Virtual assistant and bots, low code application development, IoT and Integration tooling
  • Aligns the technology design with Enterprise Architecture and User Experience strategy, standards and governance
  • Take the lead when it concerns the following layers: application, data, technology and/or security domain. Create the high level solution and detail designs that are needed to process it internal through the governance processes
  • Defines the technology ‘how’ within a solution (across platform, application, or data), including physical & logical technology architecture definition, data flows, security & privacy control implementations, reporting, analytics, and overall information management and delivery
  • Responsible to develop and maintain technology roadmaps which requires strategic partnership with vendors and deep understanding of ‘enterprise design’
  • Analyzing and documenting the business needs, processes and data to define new solutions/employee journeys/features
  • Working in an agile and scrum way of working and helping the team to progress
  • Design, document, implement and maintain new services/processes/features
  • Collaborating with all kinds of stakeholders to design services throughout the product life cycle, providing practical solutions to our employees where our vision is to simplify, personalize and being proactive
  • Provide regular progress and knowledge updates to the stakeholders
  • In parallel, you drive continuous technological improvement and change in the IT organisation to ensure alignment with Medtronic wide objectives
  • You are a trusted advisor on the Digital & IT Landscape (cloud/infrastructure) landscape and you provide guidance on the best ‘fit for purpose’ solution
  • You build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure Medtronic’s strategy is translated into actionable projects optimizing the use of technology through IT services and/or projects
  • You work together with the Global Security Office and Data privacy to ensure security and privacy considerations are covered in the technical landscape

Do you have what it takes:

Medtronic is looking for a candidate with at least 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably in a digital/international surrounding. Someone who demonstrated a high degree of “hands on” and ‘learning agility’ with the ability to readily consume and apply new information and concepts with developed analytical problem-solving skills. Have you have demonstrated experience in driving transformational outcomes in organizations and understand a persona and journey outside-in approach?

Preferably you have experience within an IT department or with employee supporting processes.
Or experienced in design thinking. The ideal candidate must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, and positive attitude and perform as a team player but also able to get to the bottom of a problem or process with a strong problem-solving and analytical skills while having a keen interest in digital trends and how they impact people and businesses.

Can you effectively collaborate in a global team of diverse individuals that are geographically dispersed through all project lifecycles? Proactively & timely inform stakeholders of potential risks, impediments, issues and roadblocks? Do you have the willingness to be flexible in the work schedule and to accommodate different time zones based on project or product team needs? Finally, willingness to travel occasionally (post Covid-19 restrictions).
