Principal Group Engineering Manager

The person in this role will lead a diverse team of over 50 highly skilled and experienced engineers responsible for building and supporting an operating system as a service across billions of devices.

This engineering manager will lead their team to develop next generation operating systems technologies leveraging emerging industry, technology, and architectural trends to improve scale, efficiency, performance, and capability. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys recruiting and growing world-class talent in an agile environment, has strong attention to detail, cares deeply about solving customer problems, and embraces challenges. It is important for this person to possess a high degree of integrity and professionalism while collaborating well with others across diverse work styles.



This engineering manager will be responsible for creating and supporting operating systems as a service rooted in The Seven Properties of Highly Secured Devices (, ensuring that quality is maintained throughout the entire life of the operating system. The desired candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong background in computer and systems architecture, with thorough understanding of system software (OS, Drivers, Firmware) and its interaction with the hardware platform.
  • 10+ years of experience as a software engineer working through the full product cycle from initial architecture design to product delivery and on-going, on-device support, including significant experience as a technical leader, and a proven track record of having shipped successful software products & services.
  • 5+ years of experience hiring, developing, and leading engineering managers and managing technical teams.
  • Leadership experience with demonstrated ability to build, lead, and motivate a results-oriented team of highly capable engineers across multiple geographies.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a supportive and inclusive work environment for career and personal development.
  • Experience shipping software as a service.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.


In addition to the qualifications listed above, the desired candidate will also possess the following characteristics:

  • Expertise shaping end-to-end product development.
  • Strong customer/stakeholder focus in creating products.
  • Executive-level interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills, including command of the English language. Ability to collaborate with different disciplines across the company.
