The teamAs a Legal Expert, you are part of ING Legal Netherlands (Legal NL). Legal NL advises on many different product areas, such as: payments, mortgages, consumer loans, insurance, business lending, private banking, restructuring and investments. Other areas of focus within Legal NL include anti-money laundering, fraud, privacy, ESG and digitisation. ING Legal NL is part of a network of more than 500 ING lawyers working across the globe which allows us to share expertise, best practices, relevant developments in case law and more. Our new Legal Purpose is “Open Minds Daring Hearts”.
Within Legal NL you will be part of the Chapter Retail Banking, one of the four Chapters. This Chapter has consumer loans, mortgages and insurance distribution as its key focus areas. The team also assists ING’s Collections department for when private individuals are in arrears. We are looking for a Legal Expert who can join the team. We work closely together and share our knowledge and experience with each other. In this way we can benefit as much as possible from shared knowledge and experience, lessons learned and best practices.

Roles and responsibilitiesWe are looking for a legal expert with demonstrable affinity and preferably experience with insurance distribution and/or mortgages. You will advise and support our internal customers (the business tribes) and risk parties within ING NL on all legal aspects, front to end. This includes:
- legal assistance to product approval processes of new or existing insurance or mortgages propositions
- preparation or review of legal documentation (e.g. General terms and conditions)
- review of advertisements
- implementation of new laws and regulations
- assessment of and providing answers to information requests from supervisory authorities.
Besides that, you may occasionally handle client complaints and/or assist our internal or external legal counsels in legal proceedings in court and at Kifid (Dutch Institute for Financial Disputes) about consumer lending or mortgages related disputes.

Do you recognize yourself in the skills and experience mentioned below and do you want to get to know ING NL better in all its facets? Then we're looking for you:
- You have a Dutch University degree in Law
- Proficient in Dutch and English (both in writing and verbally)
- You have approximately 1-3 years of relevant working experience within ING or at another financial institution, a supervisory authority or law firm
- You have knowledge of, or at least demonstrable affinity with, financial laws, in particular in the field of mortgages and/or insurance distribution
- Knowledge of privacy law and digitisation is a plus
- You are proactive, enthusiastic, customer-oriented, pragmatic, flexible, analytical and a real team player
