PsiQuantum has determined the fastest path to delivering a useful quantum computer, years earlier than the rest of the industry. Our architecture is based on silicon photonics, which gives us the ability to produce our components at Tier‑1 semiconductor fabs such as GlobalFoundries where we leverage high‑volume semiconductor manufacturing processes, the same processes that are already producing billions of chips for telecom and consumer electronics applications. We also benefit from the quantum mechanics reality that photons don’t feel heat or electromagnetic interference, allowing us to take advantage of existing cryogenic cooling systems and industry‑standard fiber connectivity.
In 2024, PsiQuantum announced two government‑funded projects to support the build‑out of our first Quantum Data Centers and utility‑scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia and Chicago, Illinois. Job SummaryOur system architecture team sits at the interface of hardware development, manufacturing, and the quantum architecture to design the first fault‑tolerant quantum computer. We are looking for a computational physicist to drive the efforts of developing internal tools for designing and analyzing the system architecture in close collaboration with other technical teams.
Responsibilities- Design and develop software tools and infrastructure to enable development, analysis and tracking of our quantum system architecture.
- Contribute to our Quantum Computing system architecture and software system roadmap.
- Develop and improve simulation tools that evaluate system models of photonic modules using Fock and Gaussian states.
- Contribute to tool development for analysis and inspection of hierarchical multi‑scale models of planned systems.
- Maintain graph‑based models modules and subsystems and infrastructure to ensure consistency and compatibility with up‑and‑downstream models.
- Degree in Physics and a strong background in quantum optics and quantum information.
- Proficiency in Python.
- 3+ years of experience in software development, with an emphasis on scientific computing.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, sites, and time zones.
- A hands‑on mentality to own challenges and develop solutions independently.
- Competent use of collaborative software development tools (e.g., GitLab) is desirable.
- Experience with Docker and Postgres is optional, but beneficial.
