Sr R&D Scientist

Position Overview

Sr. R&D Scientist – 2‑Year contract with potential extension. Location: Groningen, Netherlands.

About the Role

We are developing next‑generation vision treatments, creating smarter, less invasive, and more personalized eye care solutions. Your work will support the design, development, and testing of intraocular lenses and associated optical metrology.

Responsibilities

• Drive the development of new concepts for medical devices from ideation through market launch.
• Design and develop intra‑ocular lenses and optical metrology tools.
• Develop test methods and validation systems to characterize intra‑ocular lenses.
• Support requirements development, documentation, and reporting of protocols.
• Maintain awareness of competitive products, industry trends, and technology advancements.
• Investigate and evaluate existing technologies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and external partners in Europe and the USA.

Qualifications & Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in Optics, Physics, or Vision Science.
• Preferably 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in optical design principles; experience with Zemax, OSLO, or similar tools.
• Demonstrated research experience and interest in technology development.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base pay range: €53,500.00 – €85,445.00.
• Annual bonus with target based on pay grade and location performance.
