As Lead Buyer – Electronics, you play a key role in ensuring the continuity, quality, and cost-effectiveness of AME’s electronic supply chain. You are responsible for guiding the purchasing team and for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing electronic components, equipment, and materials that support production, operational, and development needs.
In addition to supporting daily operations, you ensure early involvement in product development and timely procurement under optimal conditions with regard to cost, delivery performance, reliability, and quality standards. Through strong supplier relationships and a proactive, hands-on mindset, you have a direct impact on bottom-line performance, supply reliability, and ultimately customer satisfaction. Your “can-do” mentality helps Applied Micro Electronics operate effectively in a dynamic and complex supply chain environment.
Responsibilities- Sourcing and procuring electronic components, assemblies, and related materials to support production and development
- Guiding and supporting the procurement team in daily activities and decision-making
- Selecting, onboarding, and offboarding suppliers, including component suppliers, distributors, and logistics partners
- Evaluating suppliers based on price, quality, delivery performance, reliability, and risk exposure
- Negotiating pricing, contracts, lead times, payment terms, and long-term agreements
- Proactively resolving supply issues such as shortages, delays, or quality concerns
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and alternative components or suppliers
- Coordinating closely with internal stakeholders including Production Planning, R&D, Quality, Finance, Warehouse, Program Management, Sales
- Collaborating with Production on should-costing and VA/VE initiatives
- Identifying opportunities for inventory reduction related to MOQs, lead times, and VMI
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
- Staying informed on market trends, component lifecycles, and supply chain risks
Through these activities, you actively contribute to cost reduction, lead time improvement, supplier delivery performance and quality (PPM), spend under contract, and the reduction of supplier-related risks.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field
- 10–15 years of experience in tactical and operational procurement within an electronics manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of electronic components such as ICs, passives, connectors, and PCBs
- Experience working in MRP-driven purchasing environments
- Familiarity with customer-controlled BOMs and AVL/AML structures
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and MS Excel
- Solid understanding of lead times, MOQs, LTAs, and supply constraints in electronics
