Your impact as Junior Credit Risk Manager Alternative Credit at NN Investment Partners

You will work closely together with Senior Credit Risk Managers, Portfolio Managers and other stakeholders like our legal and compliance departments to assess, select and structure the best possible transaction for our various clients. You will support, analyze and recommend from a second line of defense (Credit Risk) perspective on Alternative Credit transactions, within pre-agreed mandate restrictions.

Alternative Credit is a growing asset class, which invests mainly in illiquid loans. Our main strategies are:

  • Corporate Debt
  • Commercial Real Estate Debt
  • Project Finance / Infra Structure Debt
  • Structured loans, Government Guaranteed and Related (including ECA) Loans, Trade Finance
  • ABS & Residential Mortgages

Your credit analyses are well balanced, sharp and to the point. You will contribute to the assessment of the credit risk of transactions including the quality of the borrower and structure, collateral and documentation. You will review and approve annual (internal) Credit Ratings, annual (file) reviews, and produce portfolio stress tests. Besides that you’ll monitor portfolio’s and signal opportunities and potential deterioration in credit metrics, and proactively inform stakeholders. Working in the Credit Risk team, you are the linking pin between various departments which will provide you with the opportunity to further strengthen your knowledge and experience of asset management.

You are working in a dynamic environment, and are flexible to deliver under (commercial) time pressure. You are able to align with various stakeholders and make decisions that primarily serve the long term interest of our clients.

Your responsibilities

The goal of this function is that within a few years time you will become a specialist in Alternative Credit Lending. Your initial focus will be mainly on Residential Mortgages and Commercial Real Estate Debt. You like to achieve good results, and contribute to the main priorities of the team and organization:

  • Improvement of the overall performance of our Alternative Credit Platform by working together with various Credit Analysts within Risk as well as with teams across NN IP
  • Support Senior Risk Managers in credit analysis, research, modeling, stress-testing, reviewing Alternative Credit files for various strategies and review and update Credit Ratings and LGD of our (potential) Investments
  • Excellent relationships with the front offices, and other internal stakeholders. Embrace new technologies which will improve processes, controls and analysis
  • Develop and produce (new) reports / dashboards that improve our portfolio monitoring and risk reporting. Model and produce (new) stress-test that allow us to estimate the impact of various scenario’s on our portfolio’s
  • Help to develop the further integration of ESG in all our strategies. Work together with fintech partners to improve our news monitoring. Testing and Improving Alt Credit Framework and Controls

Who you are

  • You have a Master Degree and preferably also a CFA/FRM (or you are prepared to obtain a similar grade) and bring at least 2 years of relevant experience
  • You have a good understanding of balance sheets, P&L and cashflow statements
  • You have a basic knowledge and understanding of structuring and assessing Alternative Credit transactions (preferably in residential mortgages and commercial real estate debt) in an international bank or asset management (and insurance) setting. Familiarity with credit rating models, knowledge about legal documentation (LMA), distressed debt collection, and relevant knowledge on key Compliance aspects (AML/KYC/TF) and sanctions, is a pre.
  • You are a pragmatic team-player with an international attitude, who has experience with investments / lending, preferably experience in multiple operational, risk and commercial roles.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English (verbally and in writing, because of legal documentation in both languages), French is a pre.

Your colleagues

You will work closely together with Portfolio Management, Legal, Operations and Compliance to achieve a diversified portfolio where risk and return are balanced. We help each other with constructive feedback. Besides that, you will be part of the bigger financial risk management department, which consists of the teams Investment Restriction Control, Risk Advisory, Risk Solutions, Credit Risk and Counterparty Risk.
