Working at the Charité
Our institute studies the psychobiological mechanisms underlying the impact of early life stress exposure on long term health and disease risk. In the current project "Stress and fetal programming of hematopoietic stem cells" that is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) we will study the link between maternal chronic stress and newborn hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSCs). We will characterize cellular processes that play a central role in maintenance of DNA integrity, and we will characterize the immune/inflammatory response of neonatal (cord) blood immune cells.
