How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Product Design Lead (AI Products)

Design How the Real Estate Industry Works with AI

Location: London (preferred), Dubai or San Francisco

Reports to: Founder & CEO

About Smart Bricks

Smart Bricks is building the future of AI for real estate.

Every year, trillions of dollars are invested across residential, commercial and alternative real estate using fragmented systems, disconnected data and manual workflows. We're building an AI-native platform that helps investors, developers, lenders, governments and Fortune 500 companies source opportunities, underwrite investments, perform due diligence and manage portfolios using AI.

Alongside our software platform, we're building an Applied AI Lab that works directly with some of the world's largest real estate organisations to redesign complex workflows using AI. Every customer engagement generates institutional knowledge. Every deployment strengthens the platform. Every improvement compounds across every future customer.

We've raised over $5 million, led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and are backed by some of the world's leading technology ecosystems, including Techstars, Google, NVIDIA and Microsoft through their AI and startup programmes.

Our Founder is a Forbes 30 Under 30 entrepreneur and an Andreessen Horowitz Scout, helping identify and back the next generation of AI founders globally.

We're building our founding leadership team across London, Dubai and San Francisco. Our London team is based at Balderton Capital, one of Europe's leading venture capital firms, giving us the opportunity to work alongside some of Europe's most ambitious founders, investors and technology companies.

This is a chance to join at the earliest stage of building what we believe will be one of the world's leading Applied AI companies for real estate.

Why exceptional people join us

🚀 Raised $5M+, led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z)

🤝 Backed by Google, NVIDIA, Microsoft and Techstars

🏢 London office based at Balderton Capital

🌍 Building across London, Dubai and San Francisco

🏆 Founder recognised as Forbes 30 Under 30 and an Andreessen Horowitz Scout

🤖 Building Applied AI with leading institutional real estate organisations

Why this role?

We're not hiring a designer to polish interfaces or maintain a design system.

We're hiring one of the founding leaders who will define how AI products are designed for one of the world's largest industries. Every interaction you design will shape how investors, developers, lenders and governments collaborate with AI. You'll work directly alongside the Founder, Product Lead, Engineering Lead and Applied AI Lab to answer questions that don't yet have established answers:

  • How should someone underwrite a property just by talking to AI?
  • How should an investment committee collaborate with multiple AI agents?
  • How should thousands of pages of due diligence become a five-minute conversation?
  • How should professionals know when to trust an AI recommendation, and when to challenge it?

If you want a role where your work could shape enterprise software for the next decade, this is it.

What you'll build

AI-native experiences. Design products that couldn't exist before large language models, defining the interaction patterns that become the foundation of our platform:

  • Conversational underwriting and AI investment copilots
  • Multi-agent due diligence and investment committee workspaces
  • Portfolio intelligence and asset management copilots
  • Market intelligence assistants, natural language search and human-in-the-loop workflows

This means designing the interaction layer that most enterprise software gets wrong: agent reasoning and progress states, streaming responses, source grounding and citations, confidence and uncertainty display, memory and context management, guardrails and human oversight, and the visualisation of complex intelligence so a professional can act on it in seconds. You'll design for latency, error and fallback states as first-class, not edge cases.

Prototype the future. Great design is discovered through experimentation, not created in Figma. You'll rapidly prototype new interaction models using tools like Figma, Cursor, Claude Code, Lovable and v0, validate them with customers and iterate fast. The objective isn't beautiful mockups, it's discovering better ways for people and AI to collaborate.

Design with customers. Spend real time with investors, developers, lenders and enterprise customers. Watch how work actually happens, find where decisions slow down, and prototype better workflows. The best ideas come from watching the industry work, not from design reviews.

Partner with Engineering. Design doesn't stop in Figma. Work directly with Engineering to ship experiences at exceptional quality, iterating with engineers, product leaders and customers, and caring as much about execution as ideas.

Build our design culture. As one of our earliest product leaders, define how design operates at Smart Bricks: the principles, standards and ways of working that shape every experience we build over the next decade. This spans:

  • AI interaction and agent-experience design (reasoning traces, streaming, human-in-the-loop control)
  • Explainability, trust and uncertainty: how professionals know when to rely on AI and when to challenge it
  • Enterprise UX for dense, high-stakes decision workflows
  • Design systems and component libraries built for AI-native, real-time interfaces
  • Data and intelligence visualisation
  • Rapid prototyping and evaluation-driven design (designing against real model behaviour, not mockups)
  • User research with institutional real estate teams
  • Accessibility and product quality as a baseline

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12 months you'll have:

  • Designed the core AI interaction model for our institutional platform.
  • Helped define how investors, developers and lenders interact with AI across the real estate lifecycle.
  • Launched multiple AI-native products used by enterprise customers.
  • Built a deep understanding of how institutional real estate teams actually work.
  • Established design principles that scale across every product we build.
  • Helped create a platform recognised for exceptional usability, clarity and customer delight.
  • Become one of the strongest voices for customer experience across the leadership team.

Success won't be measured by the number of screens you design.

It will be measured by how naturally people can work with AI because of your work.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for designers who think like product builders. You don't just make interfaces beautiful, you simplify incredibly complex problems, think in workflows rather than screens, and care as much about solving the customer's problem as the craft of the experience.

Specifically, you'll likely have:

  • 6 to 12 years designing enterprise software, AI products or workflow platforms, with a portfolio of shipped products, not just concepts.
  • Led design as a founding or senior designer at a fast-scaling startup or scaleup, ideally owning the product experience through a period of rapid growth.
  • Shipped at least 2 to 3 products from zero to one that real users or enterprise customers rely on.
  • Deep craft across interaction design, enterprise UX, prototyping and user research, with the taste to know what "great" feels like.
  • Hands-on fluency with modern and AI-native design and prototyping tools: Figma, Cursor, Claude Code, Lovable, v0, Framer, Principle.
  • Worked shoulder to shoulder with product managers and engineers to take work from idea to production.
  • A degree in design, human-computer interaction, computer science or a related field from a strong institution, or a portfolio strong enough that it makes the qualification irrelevant.

You're equally comfortable speaking directly with enterprise customers, mapping complex workflows, sketching new interaction models, building interactive prototypes, running usability testing and iterating fast on feedback.

Experience in real estate isn't required. We care far more about designers who enjoy simplifying complex problems and inventing AI-native experiences from first principles.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe exceptional people should share in the value they create. You'll receive a highly competitive salary and a meaningful equity package, private healthcare, flexible working, an annual learning and conference budget, access to the latest AI models and design tooling, and a seat in our London office at Balderton Capital, alongside one of Europe's leading VC ecosystems.

How We Work

We hold exceptionally high standards. We start with customer problems not features, think in workflows rather than screens, prototype instead of debating, move quickly without compromising quality, care deeply about craft, challenge assumptions respectfully and stay relentlessly curious. We optimise for learning and outcomes, not process and hierarchy.

Why Join

We move insanely fast, with real rigour and standards, to redefine what AI-native software looks like for real assets.

You'll work directly with the Founder, Product, Engineering and Applied AI teams to design entirely new ways for investors, developers, lenders and governments to source, underwrite, run due diligence and manage portfolios. The interaction patterns you create won't just define Smart Bricks, they have the potential to shape how enterprise AI is designed across the real estate industry.

If you're the type to get out of bed to design products that change how people work, in this generation and the ones after, Smart Bricks is the place for you. We'd love to talk.
