We’re looking for a Receptionist who brings warmth, confidence, and professionalism to every guest interaction. From the very first “welcome” to the final “see you soon,” you’ll be the friendly face that makes every stay memorable.
Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American, part of the Dalata Hotel Group, is a 4-star, 173-room hotel nestled in one of the most beautiful art nouveau buildings in the Netherlands. Home to the legendary Café Americain and stylish Bar Americain, we welcome guests from all over the world with an experience that’s as memorable as our setting.
Objective of the Role
As Receptionist, you’ll be the heartbeat of our Front Office. You’ll make each guest feel seen, supported, and at home, whether you’re checking them in, sharing local tips, or making sure their stay runs seamlessly from start to finish. You’ll juggle calls, bookings, and requests with professionalism and a smile, ensuring every guest leaves with lasting memories of their time in Amsterdam.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Exceptional Service
- Welcome guests with genuine warmth and professionalism
- Handle check-ins and check-outs efficiently and accurately
- Manage reservations, payments, and financial transactions
- Answer questions and handle requests with confidence and care
- Share recommendations about Amsterdam’s best attractions, events, and dining
Be the Connection
- Communicate clearly with other departments to ensure smooth operations
- Support guests with special requests, wake-up calls, and messages
- Assist in resolving guest concerns with empathy and efficiency
Stay Organised & In Control
- Maintain an accurate overview of daily arrivals, departures, and room allocations
- Keep the front desk and lobby area neat, professional, and welcoming
- Ensure all guest data, payments, and reports are handled correctly in Opera PMS
Be a Team Player
- Support colleagues across departments during busy periods
- Help create a positive, collaborative environment where everyone can shine
- Represent the hotel with professionalism, positivity, and pride
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for a service-minded professional who thrives on creating great first impressions and memorable guest experiences. You know that a smile can set the tone for an entire stay.
- MBO Hotel School diploma (Level 3 or equivalent)
- At least 2 years’ experience as a receptionist or in a similar front office role
- Proficient with Opera PMS and other hotel systems
- Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch or another language is a plus)
- Knowledge of Amsterdam and passion for hospitality
- Organised, reliable, and calm under pressure
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
