Zo werkt onze sortering

De volgorde waarin vacatures worden getoond, wordt bepaald door een gecombineerde score die voortvloeit uit de volgende factoren:

  • Trefwoordrelevantie: De mate waarin jouw zoekterm overeenkomt met de vacaturetekst. Hierbij wordt een hiërarchie gehanteerd waarbij een match in de functietitel de hoogste prioriteit heeft, gevolgd door de functieverplichtingen, de locatiebenaming en de opleidingsvereisten.   • Commerciële Prioritering (Premium Jobs): Vacatures waarvoor door de werkgever is betaald ('Premium' of 'Gesponsord'), ontvangen een boost en verschijnen hierdoor hoger in de resultatenlijst.
  • Actualiteit (Date Relevance): Nieuwe vacatures krijgen voorrang. De relevantiescore van een vacature wordt gehalveerd zodra deze ouder is dan 30 dagen.
  • Afstand (Distance Relevance): Vacatures die dichter bij de gezochte locatie liggen, scoren hoger. Voor vacatures die zich op meer dan 30 km afstand van de zoeklocatie bevinden, wordt de score gehalveerd.
Al deze factoren worden met elkaar vermenigvuldigd om de uiteindelijke sortering te bepalen.

Required Documents for This Application

Please note that you will need to have the following information ready in order to complete your application:

  • A completed "Duties and Responsibilities Form" (refer to step 1 on your eRecruitment Profile page).
  • Motivation letter (maximum of 400 words).
  • Two reference letters (one academic).
  • Scanned copies of university degrees and/or diplomas.
  • Scanned copies of official academic transcripts that state your courses, results and completion date.
  • One short essay on a subject relevant to the work of the Court (maximum of 750 words, single spaced, type written).
This position is funded by the Trust Fund for the Development of Interns and Visiting Professionals, thanks to the generous contributions of donors such as the French Republic, as well as elected officials and staff of the ICC.

In order to be eligible for this funded position, all applicants must be nationals from countries that appear on the United Nations Statistics Division's list of least developed countries that are a State Party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

Funding

The Court will provide the selected candidate a monthly remuneration of €1,125 (with a mandatory deduction for emergency health insurance) as well as some financial help for travel purposes for candidates who are not based in the Netherlands at the time of the recruitment. Please note that (i) costs associated with Visas are the responsibility of the selected candidate, (ii) due to the nature of the assignment, participants cannot bring their families with them.

Contract Duration

Interns are required to work full time for a period of six months (to be agreed upon prior to commencement).

The Opportunity

The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates and, where warranted, tries individual charges with the gravest crimes of concerns to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and crime of aggression. The Court is participating in the global fight to end impunity, and through the international criminal justice, the Court aims to hold those responsible accountable for their crimes and to help prevent the crimes from happening again. You can contribute to this cause by joining the ICC.

Organisational Context

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Judicial Services, the Information Management Services Section ensures that the Registry puts in place adequate information management services, for the benefit of all organs and activities of the Court. The Information Management Services Section will also provide services to other Registry clients, including external parties relying on the policies and technology of the Court. Information services consist of:
  • Information management activities which include : developing policies and best practices for the management of (digital) documents, records and archives, library services and knowledge management, whether technology based or not;
  • Information systems support including systems development, administration and integration;
  • Technology services operations support, including end-user services, communications and networking technology, audio-visual technology;
  • Information security activities, including developing policies and best practices, implementing information security standards and managing risk related to information, whether technology based or not.
  • The Information Management Services Section provides:
  • Advice on best practices addressing the needs of its clients and the Court's and Registry's strategic objectives; Integrated solutions (i.e. Systems, policies and processes) relying on industry best-practices on all aspects of information services related to capturing, storing, preserving, delivering, securing and managing information and communication;
  • Leadership and dialogue with clients in relation to the innovation, awareness and adoption of new information practices, tools and technology-enabled processes and practices that will improve productivity, effectiveness, information sharing and availability;.
  • Strategic input and support for the implementation of a continuous change management process harnessing the use of information and technologies.
Duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Associate Database & ERP Administration Officer, the Database Administrator Intern will assist with the following tasks:
  • Support with the administration, maintenance, and operation of the organization's database environments including new server installations, maintenance, and upgrades;
  • Assist with the testing of backups/restore and support disaster recovery tests exercise.
  • Assist with configuring and monitoring Database Servers and ensuring that backups and database jobs are completed as scheduled;
  • Other IT related tasks that allow you to learn other fields of expertise.
Required Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in an IT related field, preferably Computer Science, or Database Administration. Experience with Windows Server and SQL Server is preferred. All Candidates must have a degree or be in the final stages of their studies at a recognised university. Candidates are expected to have a very good record of academic performance.

Experience:

Internship placements focus on candidates in the early stages of their professional careers. Applicants must have less than 3 (three) years of relevant full-time professional experience to be considered for an internship.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Able to adapt to multicultural and multilingual working environments.
  • Willing to learn advanced DB management and SAP technical management with in-house training and mentorship provided
  • Possesses strong teamwork skills (listens, consults and communicates proactively).
  • Has acquired a good standard of computer skills (including Microsoft Office applications).
  • Specialized knowledge/experience in Microsoft SQL (an asset but not required)
  • Must be results-driven with the ability to take initiatives and meet deadlines.
  • Must be organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge/experience with Server Clustering (an asset but not required).
Knowledge of Languages:

Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, French or English, is required. Working knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) is considered an asset.
