As our Head of PR & Communications you are in the driving seat to define and develop our PR and communication strategy to empower the voice of Fastned across a growing number of European countries (incl. UK). You will be reporting into our Director Marketing & Communications.

We know that media attention is available for those who bring something new or controversial to the discussion table. A key part of your role is to make sure we capture this media attention to create an opportunity to tell our story. You’ll do this by bringing a business mindset and instilling a sense of urgency among your PR & Communications team to create media coverage opportunities.

The PR & Communications team plays a key role in shaping and sharing Fastned’s story — proactively creating campaigns, building our message house, following the news cycle, and driving media attention through initiatives like customer research. At the same time, your team actively engages in public debate, responding to negative or misinformed coverage about electric mobility or Fastned. By building relationships with both supportive and critical journalists, the team ensures Fastned’s voice is heard, strengthens our media presence, and contributes to a broader understanding of our mission and vision for the future.

Practically, this translates into steering the PR team in our headquarters and across our markets to deliver, among others, Fastned’s corporate communication in the form of annual and interim reports, our social media presence, PR campaigns targeted to drivers or other stakeholders and press releases. And there’s much more: you will create a strategy to elaborate on a wide range of topics related to Fastned, the energy transition and the charging industry for various audiences and channels, such as white papers, news articles, or speeches.

Your responsibilities include:

• Owning Fastned communication strategy: internal & external and our channels from classic public relations to social media.
• You know what it takes to develop your team members, improving the quality of their work and their personal growth while setting direction.
• You have experience creating an engaging, fun, and performance-driven team culture for your team of five PR managers, a social media manager, and additional third-party support.
• Creating PR messaging campaigns in line with meaningful topics in the industry.
• Managing the internal projects for the team.
• Working closely with the broader commercial team consisting of brand creative, marketing, and commercial development professionals.
• Working closely with our Board and Investor Relations team to inspire investors and to comply with governance regulations.
• Ensuring stakeholder alignment across the broader Fastned team (e.g., country managers, public affairs, legal, and network expansion).

The role is based in Amsterdam; however, some travelling is required with team members and key stakeholders in other Fastned markets.

You are intrinsically motivated by Fastned’s mission to accelerate the transition to electric mobility and are curious about the industry's latest developments. You bring the ability to inspire internal and external target audiences and build momentum for Fastned and the transition, both in writing and in speech!

Additionally, you tick the following boxes:

• Excellent team leadership: developing your team members, creating a motivating team culture, and designing the right structures, processes and KPIs.
• Good media relations by bringing in prime media contacts.
• Excellent stakeholder management.
• Ability to act as spokesperson and speech/interview coaching for Executive team members (esp. CEO Michiel Langezaal).
• 10+ years of experience in writing & communication management.
• A master’s degree in business or from a technical university would be considered as beneficial.
• You have a self-starting mentality and are results-driven.
• Excellent communication in English (Dutch would be regarded as beneficial since we are stock-listed in the Netherlands).
