THE POSITION
The Area Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the finance operations for multiple properties within the German region, ensuring that all financial processes are compliant with regulatory standards and align with corporate objectives. The successful candidate will provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting, and budgeting efforts of the company.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the financial operations of multiple hotel properties in Germany, including financial reporting, data analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, company policies, and internal controls.
Implement and maintain comprehensive financial management systems to improve financial efficiencies.
Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the management team and hotel general managers.
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process with external auditors.
Develop and manage financial plans and budgets, monitor progress and changes, and produce financial reports analysing variances.
Supervise and mentor finance staff responsible for the region, ensuring professional growth and effective contribution to the organization.
Maintain strong relationships with all senior managers, stakeholders, and external partners.
Support new property acquisitions and integration into corporate financial systems and standards.
HOW YOU'LL DO IT
Excellent communication skills.
Collaborative approach, but also able to work independently.
Ability to understand, prioritise and then route issues to the appropriate support provider accordingly.
Happy to work routine-based as well as project-based.
Analytical, practical and accurate.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
Preferred knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for Germany.
Preferred knowledge of the German language to effectively collaborate with local teams and stakeholders.
Preferred familiarity with German tax regulations, including VAT, Payroll Taxes, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), and Tourist Taxes.
Proficient in financial software systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Ability to travel as needed to support assigned properties and attend corporate meetings.
