Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) team works with investors and their portfolio companies to provide independent analysis and end-to-end services across the investment lifecycle, delivering results in every economic cycle.

Through our PEPI practice, A&M offers assistance to private equity-owned portfolio companies that are underperforming or require reorganization and repositioning. Working directly with company management, A&M's involvement reassures all stakeholders that the company is taking important steps to address its challenges and maximize its value.

Our European PEPI team is rapidly growing, and we are looking for an Analyst to join our Netherlands team. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your professional services experience, financial expertise, and problem-solving skills to become an integral part of our successful, hands-on team.

As a valued member of the A&M Pan-European PEPI team based in Amsterdam, you will work on high-impact projects across the private equity lifecycle, including pre-acquisition support (operational due diligence, carve-out, merger integration), transformation, performance improvement, operational turnaround/restructuring, and exit support.

• Actively support private equity firms and their portfolio companies in pre-acquisition and performance improvement activities.
• Produce extensive financial modeling and analysis, including cash flow models and projections.
• Synthesize information from research and analysis into high-quality client reports and recommendations.
• Develop integrated models with balance sheets, P&L, and cash flow, identifying key trends and red flags.
• Support senior team members with client pitch production.
• Build models based on financial and/or operational data, leveraging your expertise in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Begin building your own network of contacts and referral sources.
• Analyze large datasets using pivot tables.
• Read financial statements and derive conclusions, linking them to operational performance.
• Identify key information in company reports to understand business performance and critical insights.

• An MSc degree from an accredited top-tier university.
• Prior experience in consulting, private equity, corporate finance, or operations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and financial expertise, with a deep understanding of key business and operational drivers.
• Excellent analytical, financial modeling, writing, and presentation-building skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to producing zero-defect deliverables.
• A fact-based, analytical approach, solution-focused mindset, and determination to make a difference.
• Familiarity with the private equity lifecycle.
• The ability to prioritize tasks, especially in high-pressure situations.
• Advanced Excel modeling skills to structure data and support timely decision-making.
• The ability to quickly understand and analyze vast or limited data to draw actionable conclusions.
• Fluency in Dutch and English.
• Willingness to travel across Europe.
