Reporting to the Local Business Area (LSO) Manager, Motion, the role can be Dublin or Cork based with responsibility for the promotion and sale of Variable Speed Drives, Converters, Motors, Generators and Motion Digital offering throughout Ireland.

Your responsibilities
  • To achieve budget objectives in respect of order volumes and gross profitability.
  • Work with local partner networks in the territory and to determine when orders are taken directly by ABB or referred via distribution in line with management guidelines.
  • Provide engineered packages in alignment with customer applications.
  • Liaise with engineering consultants ensuring ABB technology is specified on tenders.
  • Identify and Increase sales volumes to OEM customers demonstrating ABB features and benefits.
  • Organise and present technical / Sales training to all ABB Drive & Motor customers.
  • Perform energy audits on end user sites to identify opportunities for sales of drives and motors.
  • Prepare quotations and follow up on quotations prepared by Internal Sales.
  • Teamwork with all members of the Drives and Motors department and colleagues from other ABB Business Areas to maximise customer spend with ABB.
  • Handover new orders to project managers using defined procedures.
  • Submit pipeline reviews / order forecasts for the region to the LSO Manager.
  • Prepare annual budget submission by customer/ product, for order intake.
  • Monitor and report on market and competitor trends.
  • Identify market requirements to assist in new product development.
  • Provide market analysis for business development and planning.
  • Assist in the development of marketing strategy plans.
  • Ensure that all company policies and statutory obligations for health and safety, welfare of employees and compliance with business ethics are implemented.
Your background
  • Basic or further engineering qualification preferably electrical or electronic, eg (ONC, HNC, HND or degree).
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills written & verbal, a strong focus on managing customer relationships.
  • PC literate and working knowledge of O365 & salesforce CRM.
  • Experience of dealing with variety of end customers & working in fast-moving sales environment.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management, ability to prioritize efficiently in peak workloads.
  • Team player with strong interaction skills.
  • Ability to work from own initiative to meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with strong business acumen.
  • Significant marketplace knowledge and requirements gained by direct experience - desirable.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and ERP - desirable.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Lotus Notes - desirable.
  • Project management skills - desirable.
  • Product knowledge & technical application know how - desirable.
