How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The role will be site based and will provide environmental, carbon and sustainability leadership across a varied programme of works within Heathrow’s operational boundary, including airside and landside infrastructure, roads, drainage, car parks, utilities, buildings and associated civil engineering activities.

The Environment & Sustainability Manager will lead the implementation of environmental management systems, sustainability requirements and carbon reduction processes in line with Ferrovial Construction procedures, Heathrow Airport Limited Employer’s Requirements, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and PAS 2080. The role will work closely with project managers, construction teams, designers, procurement, supply chain partners and Heathrow stakeholders to ensure environmental and sustainability requirements are embedded from design through to construction, commissioning and handover.

* Provide leadership, advice and technical support to project managers, construction teams, designers, engineers, procurement teams and subcontractors on environmental, carbon and sustainability matters.

* Ensure environmental controls are incorporated into work planning, method statements, risk assessments, permits and site briefings before works commence.

* Manage environmental permits, licences, consents and approvals, coordinating with Heathrow, regulators, statutory bodies and specialist consultants where required.

* Lead and support environmental inspections, audits, assurance visits and compliance reviews, ensuring findings are communicated, actions are closed and lessons learned are embedded.

* Monitor project performance against environmental and sustainability KPIs, including waste diversion, carbon emissions, material use, energy consumption, fuel use, water management, biodiversity and supply chain performance.

* Lead reporting to Heathrow and internal senior management, ensuring accurate and timely submission of environmental, carbon and sustainability data through relevant systems and trackers.

* Identify and implement carbon reduction opportunities in line with PAS 2080, including the application of the carbon reduction hierarchy and collaboration with designers and supply chain partners.

* Promote the use of low-carbon materials, circular economy principles, waste prevention, reuse and recycling across the project lifecycle.

* Support sustainable procurement by ensuring subcontractors understand and comply with environmental, carbon, energy and sustainability obligations.

* Investigate environmental incidents, near misses and non-conformances, ensuring evidence is gathered, root causes are identified and corrective actions are completed.

* Promote a positive environmental culture across site teams through briefings, toolbox talks, awareness campaigns, training and visible leadership.

* Act as a mentor and technical lead for the Environment & Sustainability Team

* Drive innovation, best practice and continuous improvement across Heathrow projects, capturing achievements, lessons learned and case studies where appropriate.

Skills and Experience
