Fire Cadet Instructor
Hours: Part Time – 3 Hours per week (Over a 40-week period plus training and event hours).
1 evening a week between 17:00 and 20:00 (3 hours) during academic term time.

Salary: £1,799.61 per annum, actual for 3 hours per week (Grade 3: £25,949 per annum FTE) + training and event hours. *To increase subject to national pay award negotiations for 2026.

The overall purpose of the role will be to support the Cadet Branch Manager in delivering the Fire Cadet Scheme, ensuring cadets achieve their full potential through high-quality education, social action activities, and operational development. The role involves mentoring and inspiring cadets, assisting in the preparation and delivery of cadet sessions, and contributing to events and campaigns that reflect the mission of the scheme.
To be considered for this role candidates must have a Level 3 AET teaching qualification or be willing to attain it, along with Level 2 Safeguarding training or a willingness to do so. Essential skills include IT proficiency, safeguarding knowledge, GDPR understanding, and familiarity with the fire service. Experience working with children and young people, supervising teams, and organising events is required. Strong communication, presentation, and organisational skills are also essential.
The key duties will include:
* Support the delivery and registration of the Fire Cadet Scheme.
* Assist in planning and delivering training, activities, and events.
* Promote safeguarding, safety, and inclusion.
* Act as a positive role model for cadets.
* Support community campaigns and social action initiatives.
* Complete training and ensure policy compliance.

New starters will commence on the bottom of the salary grade and will receive increases to the top of the grade on an incremental basis. We offer 28 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus Bank Holidays. Annual leave increases after 5 years’ service to 32 days, followed by an extra day a year up to a maximum of 37 days. We also operate a generous flexi time attendance scheme.
