The Role
As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in identifying, securing, and developing new opportunities across the West Midlands. You’ll be responsible for building strategic partnerships and driving growth across a range of programmes, including Restart, Welfare to Work (W2W), employability initiatives, and apprenticeships.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and executing a regional business development strategy
* Identifying and securing new contracts and funding opportunities
* Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, commissioners, and employers
* Leading on bids, tenders, and proposals
* Working closely with internal teams to ensure successful programme delivery and growth
* Keeping ahead of market trends and policy changes within the employability and skills sector
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys both strategic thinking and operational delivery.
Ideal Candidate
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a strong track record in business development within the employability or skills sector. You’ll be a well-rounded professional who can confidently manage the full BD lifecycle.
You will have:
* Proven experience working with Restart programmes, W2W, employability, and/or apprenticeships
* A strong understanding of the UK skills and employability landscape
* Demonstrable success in winning new business and securing contracts
* Experience developing partnerships across public and private sectors
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
* A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to work autonomously
