Contract: Long-Term, Temp-to-PermLong Term Futures are seeking a caring and patient Reception SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming two-form entry primary school in Redditch. This is a full-time 1:1 role supporting two children within Reception, working closely with the class teacher and wider EYFS team to provide consistent and individualised support.
The role will be split across two pupils:
Mornings: Providing 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and additional health needs, supporting learning, development, classroom routines and independence.
Afternoons: Supporting a Reception pupil with Autism (ASD) who is pre-verbal, using visual and communication strategies to encourage engagement, communication and access to learning.
Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to each child's individual needs.
Adapt EYFS activities to ensure both pupils can access learning at an appropriate level.
Support communication, language, social and emotional development.
Use visual strategies, structured routines and sensory approaches where appropriate.
Encourage independence, engagement and positive interactions throughout the school day.
Monitor progress and work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals.
Maintain a nurturing, consistent and inclusive approach to supporting both children.
What the School is Looking For
Previous experience supporting children with SEN within EYFS or a primary school setting.
Experience supporting ASD, GDD, pre-verbal pupils and/or complex additional needs.
Confident providing dedicated 1:1 support.
Good understanding of the EYFS curriculum and learning through play.
Experience with Makaton, PECS, Now & Next boards, visual timetables or other communication strategies would be beneficial.
A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
Comfortable working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
