How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

VICE PRINCIPALS For CURRICULUM

Post 1: ACADEMIC & VOCATIONAL PROVISION
Post 2: TECHNICAL & SKILLS PROVISION
Salary: £90,000 - £100,000

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) is one of the most successful FE colleges in the country. Rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ in every category since 2019, and with achievement rates for academic, vocational, apprenticeship and adult provision all in the top 5% of FE providers nationally, NSCG is an exceptional place to work and study.

The NSCG Group has recently been extended with the opening of the Stoke and Staffordshire Institute of Technology, the establishment of an NSCG campus in Leek and most recently the opening of a town centre Adult Education Hub in Stafford. In 2026/27 we shall be working to develop an Advanced Manufacturing Technical Excellence Centre and a Technical and Vocational Excellence Hub.

Following the appointment of Shelley Brown as Principal from January 2027, and given the significant growth which the College has experienced in recent years, we now wish to appoint two Vice Principals to take on responsibility for the development and quality of the curriculum for our 7,700 full-time students across all of the NSCG campuses.

It is intended that one post will focus upon academic and vocational provision whilst the second will have responsibility for the technical and skills curriculum. In addition the two postholders will need to work very closely together on areas of shared responsibility and as part of the wider Senior Management Team with responsibility for all of the College’s £70m+ budget.

Working with an outstanding and forward thinking senior management team, and reporting to the Principal, these are opportunities for ambitious and dynamic managers with a flexible and ‘hands on’ approach with broad experience and excellent problem solving skills.

Post 1: Academic & Vocational Provision: You will lead three Faculties (Academic, Vocational & Professional Studies), line-managing their respective Directors of Curriculum. Your portfolio will cover A, T, and V Level provision, and you will serve as the College lead for higher education progression and university partnerships.

Post 2: Technical & Skills Provision: You will lead three Faculties (Skills & Technology, Creative & Service Industries, and the Leek Campus), line-managing their respective Directors of Curriculum. Your portfolio will focus on T Level and skills-based provision, and you will serve as the College lead for skills development and employer partnerships.

Shared Responsibilities: Both postholders will jointly line-manage the Curriculum Director for English, Maths, and Foundation Learning, and collaborate closely to establish the Technical & Vocational Excellence (TVE) Hub.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

To promote the College’s vision and strategic objectives and to promote the values and behaviours which underpin them.
To promote NSCG as the first-choice destination for the brightest young people from Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent through an active programme of liaison with schools, parents and other relevant partners.
To advise the Senior Management Team, the Corporation and its Committees on matters relating to aspects of the College curriculum, its management and development.
To take the lead in reporting to the Education & Standards Committee of the Corporation.
To work with the Chief Finance Officer to ensure that the College’s curriculum is delivered in the most cost-effective manner.
To provide leadership to the Curriculum Directors and Managers in ensuring that their leadership skills and capacity are fully developed.
To promote innovation and creativity in the design and delivery of all aspects of the College curriculum, especially that aimed at the 16-18 cohort, whilst maintaining high standards and producing outstanding results. The Ideal Candidates

We are seeking ambitious, hands-on leaders with exceptional strategic vision and a track record of innovation in post-16 learning. To succeed in either post, you must bring:

Extensive senior-level curriculum management and operational development experience within a GFE or Tertiary college.
An appropriate academic or professional qualification, alongside an excellent understanding of post-16 funding methodologies.
The ability to inspire teams, develop the leadership capacity of Curriculum Directors, and maintain outstanding teaching and learning standards.
Is able to represent the College in discussions with a wide range of organisations and bodies at local, regional and national strategic level.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to represent the College at local, regional, and national strategic levels.
A high level of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to interpret complex data and produce concise reports for a variety of audiences.
A deep understanding of, and commitment to, safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults, as well as equality and diversity. What’s in it for you?

The college offers and excellent benefits package which includes:

Employer Pension contributions
35 Days Annual Leave, (PLUS Bank Holidays & Christmas Closure).
Electric Vehicle Scheme (Salary Sacrifice).
Cycle to Work Scheme
Subsidised Gym Membership.
Health-related benefits including a subsidised Health Scheme.
