We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Principal Business Improvement Manager to join our Transport Infrastructure team. This role can be based from anywhere in the UK. The candidate must be willing to travel across the UK - a Company Car will be provided.

The business improvement function helps people across all parts of Amey to deliver sustainable change. It provides training and coaching to increase skill levels, the tools and infrastructure needed to support structured continuous improvement, and direct support to delivery teams on the most challenging improvement projects and programmes.

The Principal Business Improvement Manager is responsible for developing and supporting improvement projects and programmes that are aligned with the overall Amey business strategy.

The standard working hours are 40 hours per week and this position offers a competitive salary

What you'll do:

Enabling change
Increasing the number of people in Amey with the skills and capabilities to deliver change through the delivery of a range of business improvement training products, including supporting the secondment of high potential individuals into the business improvement team, and the transfer of skills through delivery of improvement projects.
Promoting a culture of continuous improvement through engagement with business leaders and staff at all levels and the provision of the infrastructure needed to enable innovation across the business. Delivering improvement
Supporting the prioritisation of improvement effort by developing, reviewing and analysing Amey KPIs, contract and functional performance management frameworks and other management information, and undertaking diagnostic and benchmarking exercises to support decision-making.
Developing, delivering and/or supporting the delivery of strategic improvement projects, change programmes, mobilisation and integration exercises, and innovation.
Managing the collation of R&D tax credit-eligible activity across the Highways business. Transferring knowledge
Developing and implementing the company's management system, and ensuring that it supports work winning and operational improvement.
Facilitating and enabling communities of practice to identify and share improvement opportunities and provide essential input into work winning. Encouraging Innovation and Managing Change
Challenging existing processes, introducing new approaches to improve the quality and efficiency and effectiveness of processes, actively encouraging and supporting creativity in the contract and project improvement team members. Working Together
The Principal Business Improvement Manager will be able to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders through consultation, advice, facilitation of discussion and resolution of conflict.
Working and consulting with internal stakeholders in a constructive and helpful way, offering advice as appropriate to achieve improvement, project milestones and deliverables. This will involve developing relationships with stakeholders to establish trust, credibility and respect. Achieving and Improving
The Principal Business Improvement Manager will be able to effectively deploy process improvement tools and techniques and use the relevant tools available to schedule, plan, track and correct process performance.
Understanding how to obtain and ensure quality results to achieve total customer satisfaction, and where appropriate challenging accepted practices. Communicating Effectively
Communicating effectively in writing and orally, having the ability to translate complex information including Client requirements to provide information in a way that is accessible and easily understood.
The Principal Business Improvement Manager may need to influence and persuade stakeholders/customers to accept a particular way forward, sometimes dealing with resistance to the proposals. Leading and Managing Others
The ability to direct, manage and motivate the improvement and project teams, setting achievable objectives and taking responsibility for making decisions and for providing constructive feedback.

What You'll Bring:
A Project Management qualification, preferably at degree level or equivalent
Proven experience in infrastructure project management, ideally within the Highways, renewable energy, utilities or transportation sectors
Excellent stakeholder management experience
The ability to develop and deliver multiple improvement projects with successful outcomes
Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, evolving environment
