Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Billericay, Essex
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing and dynamic consultancy delivering a diverse portfolio of construction and infrastructure projects across the Education and Healthcare sectors.
Working as part of an experienced Project Management team, you will take ownership of the commercial and contractual management of projects from inception through to completion. Projects range from new build developments and major refurbishments through to mechanical, electrical and fire safety improvement programmes.

The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring financial control, contractual compliance and successful project delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparing cost estimates, budgets and cash flow forecasts
* Managing project costs throughout the project lifecycle
* Producing Bills of Quantities, tender documentation and contract documentation
* Managing procurement processes and evaluating tenders
* Negotiating contract terms with contractors and suppliers
* Administering construction contracts
* Undertaking site visits to assess progress and validate valuations
* Producing financial reports, cost reports and final accounts
* Managing project risk and identifying commercial opportunities
* Supporting the resolution of contractual and commercial issues
* Mentoring junior team members and supporting the growth of the Quantity Surveying function
* Working collaboratively with clients, contractors, consultants and project stakeholders
About You
I'm looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who combines strong commercial awareness with excellent communication and leadership skills.
You will ideally have:
Essential
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline
* Minimum three years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction industry
* Consultancy experience
* Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement and project management
* Experience preparing estimates, budgets and financial reports
* Excellent analytical and commercial skills
* Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software such as CostX or Bluebeam
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites
Desirable
* Experience delivering projects within the Education and/or Healthcare sectors
* Membership of a recognised professional body such as RICS, CIOB or MAPM
* Postgraduate qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Project Management
