Role Title: IBM Z Technical Specialist – Db2 System Programmer
Location: Hybrid 60% office-40% Remote - Sheffield
Duration: 30/11/2026
Pay Rate: £514 per day
Role Description:
As IBM Z Technical Specialist – Db2 System Programmer you will be a part of several functions within the job involving multiple products and technologies, including but not limited to support and maintain the Db2 environment as well as the functional testing for the tertiary backup environment. You will be involved in DB2 upgrades and maintenance, performance reviews, access and security administration for DB2 systems, installing and maintaining DB2 Tools for zOS. You will be required to understand the supporting ISV products particularly from the vendors; IBM, Broadcom and Computer Associates (CA).
Technical Requirements
• Installation, customization and maintenance of DB2 for z/OS and related products.
• Sound knowledge in SMPE required for MVS environment.
• Excellent knowledge of relational database concepts of DB2 in z/OS.
• Proficiency in using DB2 tools from IBM, Broadcom and other vendors.
• Good knowledge in performance & tuning, database sizing, system support, security and documentation.
• Implement RACF/ACF2 DB2 security rules and Access authority.
• Good experience with software maintenance.
• Knowledge in planning and designing databases.
• DB2 monitoring software.
• Good Knowledge on IBM utilities, JCL, access methods and file structures
• Good Knowledge in Disaster Recovery
• Create documentation and SOP’s.
• Provide Operations Support
• Interaction with Service Center and other business support areas for problem escalations, resolutions, reporting and coordination.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related discipline preferred.
• 8-12 years of relevant work experience.
• Good understanding of ITIL processes and procedures.
• Strong overall technical leadership skills.
