The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Carmichael UK are currently recruiting for an experienced Utilities Site Engineer to join a major infrastructure package on the HS2 project in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of one of the UK’s largest and most high-profile civil engineering projects, supporting critical utilities and infrastructure works across the route.
We are looking for a proactive and technically strong engineer with previous experience working on large-scale civil engineering, highways, rail, or utility diversion projects.
Responsibilities
Setting out and surveying for utilities and infrastructure works
Managing subcontractors and ensuring works are delivered safely and to programme
Coordinating utility diversions including water, gas, electric, telecoms, and drainage
Producing and reviewing RAMS, ITPs, and QA documentation
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
Liaising with site teams, designers, and client representatives
Maintaining accurate site records and as-built information
Supporting delivery teams with technical engineering expertise
Requirements
Previous experience as a Site Engineer on major civil engineering or utilities projects
Experience working on highways, rail, infrastructure, or utility diversion packages
Competent with setting out equipment including Leica or Trimble
Strong understanding of QA processes and engineering documentation
CSCS Card essential
SMSTS or SSSTS preferred
NRSWA advantageous
Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
