The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
You will be Based in Birmingham at EYAS Global premises, but providing support and services to group companies.We are seeking an experienced, proactive and highly motivated Health & Safety Advisor to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the Health & Safety Director and company management, you will play a key role in supporting and continually improving Health & Safety standards across multiple businesses, ensuring compliance with current legislation while promoting a positive and proactive safety culture.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional who is confident working independently, managing multiple priorities and building strong working relationships with directors, managers and operational teams across a variety of business environments.
The Role
The successful candidate will provide competent Health & Safety advice and support across multi sites, helping to ensure legal compliance, minimise risk and continually improve Health & Safety performance.
The role will involve regular travel between operational sites, primarily across Birmingham and Dudley.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional Health & Safety advice and support across a portfolio of Group and non-Group companies.
- Support the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of Health & Safety Management Systems.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits and compliance reviews across multiple operational sites.
- Carry out suitable and sufficient risk assessments, COSHH assessments and develop safe Systems of Work.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant UK Health & Safety legislation, environmental requirements and industry best practice.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Produce detailed investigation reports, recommendations and management reports.
- Deliver Health & Safety inductions, toolbox talks and training to employees, contractors and visitors.
- Promote a positive Health & Safety culture by coaching and supporting managers and employees at all levels.
- Monitor Health & Safety performance, analyse trends and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the development, review and implementation of Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate Health & Safety documentation and records on paper; then transfer to our computer-based systems.
- Support internal and external audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
- Keep up to date with changes in Health & Safety legislation and provide guidance to the businesses where required.
About You
We are looking for a highly organised and experienced Health & Safety professional who is passionate about improving workplace safety and has the confidence to influence positive behavioural change across a range of operational environments.
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within recycling, waste management, logistics, manufacturing, construction or other heavy industrial environments.
* NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum.
* Excellent working knowledge of current UK Health & Safety legislation and its practical application.
* Experience carrying out workplace inspections, audits, investigations and risk assessments.
* Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
* Strong report writing and IT administrative skills.
* Ability to work independently and with others; prioritise workloads and manage multiple sites effectively.
* Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
* Desirable
* NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent higher-level qualification.
* Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH, GradIOSH or CMIOSH).
* Experience supporting multiple business operations.
