Your role.The Program Controller is responsible for managing program budgets by evaluating and approving expenditures, assessing financial risks, informing agreements with implementing partners and service providers, and reporting on program finances.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage overall financial responsibility for designated program areas and donor funding.
- Prepare financial forecasts and manage program administration.
- Ensure alignment with operational procedures, including partner assessments and compliance with donor requirements.
- Prepare and review financial reports, budgets, and contracts for new projects with implementation partners.
- Assess partners’ financial reports, revised budgets, and audit statements, and follow up on findings.
- Ensure complete and accurate financial administration and audit files for programs.
- Provide financial advice to program teams on tender documents, calls for proposals, and contracts.
- Support in the preparation of budgets for fundraising proposals and review donor contracts and reporting requirements.
- Ensure accurate coding of incoming payment requests in financial systems.
- Conduct monthly financial checks and manage financial risks in the portfolio.
- Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Oversee financial reporting to donors and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
- Implement and comply with organizational policies and procedures for financial reporting.
- Ensure regional and national compliance with financial reporting and tax obligations.
- You are proficient in planning and organizing, allowing you to coordinate timely reporting and audits, even when implementing partners delay their reporting obligations.
- You can navigate internal control challenges while managing the entire financial process.
- You communicate effectively about accounting and financial processes and manage internal and external stakeholders successfully in a complex environment.
- 5 years of experience in financial management or a controller role, preferably in an international context.
- Academic degree in accounting, finance, business economics, or a related field.
- Professional certification in accounting (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with GAAP and IFRS, and up-to-date with regulatory requirements and industry practices.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial management software; familiarity with Salesforce & Exact is an advantage.
- Strong competencies in using spreadsheets for financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Experience in leadership and team management, with the capacity to guide a team of accountants.
A challenging, pivotal role within an impacting, international organisation – and:
- A salary range between EUR 3,830 – 4,788 (excluding 8% holiday allowance) per month (based on a 40-hour work week), job level 16. The job level is evaluated based on IDH methodology; the successful candidate will be placed within the range depending on relevant work experience.
- A full-time (40 hours) 1 year contract initially, with the intention to extend (as this is a permanent position).
