The Role

We're looking for an impactful Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join our team at Booking Holdings, B.V. (BHBV). This pivotal role will serve as a strategic partner to our business leaders, driving people initiatives that support our organizational goals and foster a high-performance culture across multiple business units and brands.

As a Senior HRBP, you'll be instrumental in shaping our people strategy, acting as an agent of change and a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. You'll need to demonstrate a strong ability to foster a collaborative environment and build a “one team” mentality, building relationships and gaining buy-in for critical people programs.

As the liaison to Booking.com’s People teams, you'll be the main point of contact between BHBV and the relevant Booking.com people specialist teams. This includes building strong working relationships, advocating for BHBV's specific needs, and ensuring their services align with company policies. You'll also understand the Booking.com HR services to guide employees to the right resources and manage the chargeback process for these services.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new legal entity within an established holding company. You enjoy getting into the details to help problem-solve, troubleshoot, and identify opportunities for improvement. You will thrive in a highly dynamic environment that will require a mindset characterised by agility, resourcefulness, and a willingness to build from the ground up within an existing, established group. The ideal candidate will be highly autonomous, comfortable working independently and proactively in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Key responsibilities
  • Strategic People Partnering: Partner, coach and challenge business leaders on all People-related topics to drive informed decision-making, translating strategic direction into effective People solutions that drive Company goals. Collaborate and partner closely with the Booking.com HR Business Partner team, establishing and maintaining productive and effective working relationships, especially in areas with dual-hatted functions to ensure strategic alignments for BHBV employees who may still have strong ties or collaborate closely with those Booking.com craft teams.

  • Change Leadership: Serve as a key agent of change, guiding the organization through transformation initiatives and ensuring successful adoption of new processes and structures, adapting quickly to evolving priorities within a dynamic environment.

  • Organizational Design & Development: Lead and support organization design initiatives, including workforce planning and talent optimization, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Continuous Process Innovation: Troubleshoot, optimize and map complex People processes across various business units and brands, especially as BHBV scales. Identify opportunities for standardization and efficiency gains through collaboration with Booking.com People teams. This includes designing potential new processes that focus on efficiency when necessary or applicable.

  • End-to-End People Solutions: Own the end-to-end delivery and adoption of critical People topics within your partnered organizations. This includes the employee lifecycle, promoting and enabling engagement conversations, optimizing performance and implementing programs that attract and retain talent.

  • Works Council Engagement & Compliance: Serve as a primary point of contact and representative for Works Council matters. This includes supporting consultations and preparation to ensure People topics are of high quality and planned well in advance, while partnering with the Employment Legal team. Ensure compliance with all local regulations and Company policies. Foster good relationships with Works Council members.

  • Collaboration & Culture: Foster an environment of collaboration and teamwork across the business, promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture, especially as BHBV forms its identity.

  • Booking.com People Liaison: Act as the primary liaison for all People-related matters between BHBV and Booking.com’s People specialist teams. This includes directing employees to the right resources, advocating for BHBV’s interests, and overseeing the cost management of these services.

  • Employee Relations: Partner with client groups to proactively solve complex employee relations issues, providing expert manager and employee coaching, guiding through corrective action, and handling terminations when appropriate. Partner with the Employee Relations Office as needed.

  • Ad Hoc People Projects: Partner with the BHI and Booking.com People teams on ad hoc People projects as relevant.

Skills and experience required
  • BA or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Senior HR Business Partner, preferably within a multinational organization or complex corporate structure.

  • Demonstrated experience with Works Council responsibilities in the Netherlands.

  • Proven ability to work autonomously and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with a track record of taking initiative and adapting to ambiguity.

  • Experience in setting up or significantly contributing to HR functions within a new entity, business unit, or "start-up" phase, even within a larger corporate framework.

  • Strong track record of influencing without authority and building effective relationships at all levels.

  • Extensive experience in organizational design and change management.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, document, and design new complex processes.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise, collaborate, and challenge senior stakeholders constructively.

  • Ability to foster an environment of collaboration and teamwork.

  • Experience working with diverse and multinational teams.

  • Deep understanding of Dutch labor law and HR best practices.

  • Expectation to travel to the US 1-2x a year for team offsites
