TU Delft has the strong ambition to contribute to a sustainable 21st century. By pushing boundaries in technological research, by training engineers who play a central role in society and, together with companies, by translating knowledge into innovation. The Communication Directorate helps the university realize this ambition. We wish to keep our 25,000 students and 5,000 employees informed and involved, as well as companies, policy makers, alumni, and of course high-school students who wish to study at TU Delft.
The Communication Directorate ensures that everything runs smoothly, also within the organization itself. We do this with 150 communication employees - divided over faculties, support services and a central department - who together use a wide spectrum of communication resources and competences. The department has an open and pleasant atmosphere and is used to working in a dynamic, young and international environment.
In this position you will be seconded from the Communication department to the Education and Student Affairs (ESA) department. ESA is responsible for supporting all bachelor, master and doctoral education at TU Delft. From admission and registration, study programme administration and educational logistics, to student counselling, teacher support and sport & culture programmes and facilities.Functie omschrijving
As a communication officer within the ESA department you work in an inspiring, dynamic and international environment in a position that offers variety and creativity. Together with a team of colleagues, you are responsible for running the Introduction Programme (IP) from initiation to completion, including communications, finances and evaluation. The IP is for new incoming Master, exchange and bridging students. It offers a useful and enjoyable start at TU Delft during which the students are introduced to the university, the Netherlands, and the multicultural student life. The IP takes place twice a year, in February and August. In August, the introduction programme for Bachelor students (OWee) and the IP take place in the same week, and the programme teams cooperate in the organisation of those elements that are common to both events.
You look at the event from the students’ perspective whilst ensuring it meets the university’s goals. You craft messages for clear and timely communication via a number of channels and materials, including videos, social media and a dedicated app.
You work with several student assistants whom you supervise to ensure a smooth delivery of the various elements of the programme. In addition, you collaborate closely with other members of the ESA Communications team, internal partners - including faculties and members of the OWee programme team - and external third parties.
While not directly engaged in running the IP, you contribute your communication skills to other ESA projects or events, implementing plans and delivering communication to both students and lecturers.
You have a higher education qualification (HBO) and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience working in communications and running internal and external events. You love helping students get the best start at university and know how to effectively engage and communicate with them. You are a born organiser and true team player who can set priorities and meet deadlines. You can plan your own work as well as coordinate the activities and delivery of others.
You liaise well with multiple stakeholders (students, lecturers, safety & security teams, administrative officers, external suppliers) and can handle quotations and budgets. You are quality and result oriented and available during July, August and January (including some evening work as necessary). Finally, you have a good command of English and Dutch (orally and in writing).Arbeidsvoorwaarden
It is a function with a size of 30-32 hours (0.8 FTE). It is a temporary employment contract, starting at 1 March 2020 until 31 March 2021 (with no holidays in the running up to the event in January/February and in July/August). The salary is based on scale 9 from the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities with a minimum of € 2.835,- and a maximum of € 3.895,- gross per month for a full-time appointment. You will accrue pension via the ABP pension fund.
Besides of course the holiday allowance in May, you will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December. You can also compile a part of your terms of employment package yourself with the help of the Individual Terms and Conditions package, including buying and selling leave hours. A good balance between work and private life is important. That is why you can make agreements about flexible working hours and you have many vacation days. We think it is important that you can develop as well as possible and that you can carry out your work at your best. We support this in various ways, including an extensive range of courses, career coaches or discounted sports.Informeren en solliciteren
