Schiphol Airport, one of the top‑3 airports in Europe, handles 477,000 flights and 70 million passengers each year. As a Solution Architect, you will help Schiphol become more data‑driven by enhancing its Data Architecture and supporting AI and analytics initiatives.
In this role you will collaborate within a team that follows established architectural standards and work closely with the Data & AI department, product teams in the Business Platforms, and Solution and Enterprise architects across the organisation.
You will help reduce the complexity of our data landscape, promote standard solutions, and ensure security by design, while aligning with the Business Platforms.
Responsibilities- Apply and evolve architectural standards, building blocks, patterns, and principles to support scalable and reliable data and AI solutions.
- Collaborate with Data & AI teams, product teams, and architects to translate architectural principles into practical designs that fit both the enterprise landscape and day‑to‑day delivery.
- Embed standard architectural patterns in the organisation, making them easier to understand, more efficient, and more effective.
- Build trust by listening to the challenges teams face and focusing on enablement rather than enforcement.
- Resolve architectural trade‑offs between business needs, technical constraints, and risk, providing pragmatic advice that balances speed, scalability, reliability, and compliance.
Reports to the Manager of Data Platform.
QualificationsFive years of relevant experience in designing and implementing data solutions and advising development teams, with a focus on AI, analytics, and/or BI.
Experience with Azure cloud solutions.
Experience with data platform infrastructures and specific knowledge or certification in Databricks, Kafka, Apache Spark, Python, SQL, dbt, OpenShift, Collibra, and Power BI.
Knowledge of and experience with TOGAF and ArchiMate modelling.
Knowledge of and experience with Big Data patterns (processing, visualisation, data management, collection, and storage) and the associated technical prerequisites such as authorization models, security, and compliance.
Excellent command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
Knowledge and experience in data modelling techniques, data management, data governance, or Generative AI is a plus.
