The CoE is a new department within IT. Your first and most important role is creating and building a new department. As CoE Lead IT Security and Operational Excellence you have a pivotal role in establishing and strengthening the processes and controls to safeguard continuity, stability and security of IT services provided to our internal and external customers.

The CoE provides capabilities to close today’s continuity, stability and security gaps and provide structural solutions and guardrails to ensure high levels of continuity, security and stability are maintained, specifically as we transform into an agile organization. The CoE will support embedding these key design concepts in the agile squads, working closely with the Enterprise Architecture and IT Strategy & Transformation CoE’s.

This is what you do
The CoE lead is a trusted strategic advisor and partner to the business delivery squads and IT Tribes and custodian of the overall stability and security of the IT Landscape. Additionally, the CoE is responsible for establishing and executing data quality, stability, security and other “IT in Control” remediation initiatives. The CoE lead is supported by key experts in the areas of security, data quality, stability, lifecycle management (LCM) and partner management and sets guidelines and standards, coaches squads on stability and security and provides a light house function to ensure VodafoneZiggo stays in control of the application landscape. The CoE lead also provides insights into potential OPEX and Capex efficiencies and ensures the most efficient and impactful utilization of budgets allocated to LCM.

The CoE will oversee and at times deliver (parts of) improvement programs in the areas of lifecycle management (LCM), security, stability, and decommissioning, while working closely with the IT squads and Product Owners to embed these themes into the backlog. The CoE Lead is responsible for evaluate and adjust the services which the CoE provides towards the Tribes, to continuously improve the level of control in terms of security and stability.

Your key accountabilities and decision ownership are:

  • Define guidelines and guardrails for security and operational excellence and embed these in our squad’s way of working so IT remains “in control” and report on control adherence.
  • Provide security expertise to all IT squads, ensure squads operate within the boundaries set by managing the risk controls, ensuring continuous improvement in this area and make a tangible contribution to meeting our security maturity targets and de-risking our landscape.
  • Secure Lifecycle Management execution within the squads for all IT systems within IT and guiding LCM requirements for IT managed outside of IT.
  • Strengthen partner management to effectively manage our partners in an agile way of working and manage the PMO capability.
  • Be a trusted advisor and mature partner towards the IT Leadership team and Business counterparts to shape and bring to execution improvement plans.
  • Financial oversight accountability for Opex and Capex spend for your area of responsibility.

Team Up
As CoE Lead IT Security and Operational Excellence, you will be part of the CoE Management Team and you will have a seat in the IT Management Team of VodafoneZiggo. You will be teaming up with your CoE team (approx. 40 -50 people, 3 to 4 direct reports) and work closely with the other CoE’s Enterprise Architecture and Strategy & Transformation. Furthermore, you will work closely with the 4 IT Tribes (IT4IT, IT4Business, IT4Consumer & IT4Enterprise). You will report into Candice Dillon, Director IT and member of the Technology Leadership Team at VodafoneZiggo.

The role is based in either or Amsterdam office (Kabelweg) or Maastricht office.

Got what it takes

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience within Telecommunication IT environment or experience in commodity markets like telecom, energy, insurance, or banking.
  • Proven security, ITIL and operational excellence experience.
  • Experience in a scaled agile environment.
  • Experienced People & Competence Manager with strong interpersonal skills. Motivates people to innovate and advocates change to challenge the status quo.
  • A broad understanding of Cyber Security in IT, deepens and updates security knowledge and can coach and advise.
  • Acts and is valued as a trusted strategic advisor and partner to the IT director and to the IT MT on topics of IT process maturity, security and stability. Embraces operational and cost excellence and can advise on these topics.
  • Can influence and guide on strategic IT decisions, IT vision and strategy around security and operational excellence, at peer level as well as SMT and SLT level.
  • Decision maker, with a sharp focus in giving direction, mandate and courage to make decisions in the interest of IT.
