The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
This workload includes highways maintenance, highways safety inspections, Highways Act enforcement, reaction to highways emergency events, environmental improvements and acting as a public interface for all highways services.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and take ownership of a designated geographical area as part of a Local Highways team responsible for maintaining and improving a quarter of the county's highway network.
* Prioritise and deliver engineering solutions based on highway safety, serviceability, asset condition, and the needs of the travelling public.
* Undertake highways inspections and assessments to identify defects, maintenance requirements, and potential safety risks.
* Coordinate and oversee highways maintenance activities to ensure the network remains safe and operational.
* Respond to and manage highway emergency incidents, including severe weather events, road traffic damage, flooding, and other network disruptions.
* Investigate and progress enforcement matters under the Highways Act, including issues relating to obstructions, encroachments, and highway protection.
* Support and deliver environmental improvement initiatives within the highway network and public realm.
* Act as a key point of contact for residents, elected members, parish councils, contractors, utility companies, and other stakeholders, providing professional advice and customer-focused solutions.
