An established and highly regarded financial services organisation, based in Grimsby, are looking to recruit an experienced Financial Controller on a permanent basis. The business is part of a wider group and is recognised for its strong governance, long-term stability and specialist expertise in finance solutions.
Your new role
A newly created opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ideally qualified Financial Controller to join the finance team based in Grimsby.
Reporting into the senior leadership team, this is a key role responsible for leading the finance and treasury functions, delivering high-quality financial insight.
You will play a critical role in supporting senior stakeholders with commercial analysis, strategic decision-making and financial governance.
Key responsibilities will include:
Prepare and review statutory financial statements in line with IFRS and UK‑adopted international accounting standards
Maintain full balance sheet integrity, including complex reconciliations and judgement‑based areas
Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure robust documentation of treatments
Review outputs produced by the Finance Team, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies
Drive improvements in finance systems, reporting processes and data quality
Act as the primary contact for external auditors, managing all audit interactions
Lead audit planning, fieldwork coordination and delivery of required schedules
Prepare supporting documentation and respond to technical audit queries
Implement audit recommendations and strengthen internal controls where needed
Support the preparation and review of corporation tax returns, VAT submissions, and other statutory filings
Liaise with external tax advisors and regulatory bodies
Ensure all tax reporting is completed accurately and on time, maintaining full compliance with HMRC and internal governance standardsWhat you'll need to succeed
Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) or Part Qualified or QBE
Proven experience in a senior finance role and strong IFRS knowledge
Advanced Excel capability and confidence using Microsoft Office tools
Experience working with finance systems, reporting tools and consolidation software
