Business Development Manager – Scotland

The business is receiving an increasing volume of opportunities centred on data‑driven solutions, making it essential that the successful candidate can competently discuss IT systems, software platforms, data acquisition processes, and sensor‑based technologies alongside traditional weighing and plant equipment.
The successful candidate will represent a respected brand across industrial weighing systems, sensor‑based technologies, construction plant machinery, waste‑handling equipment and recycling solutions. They will engage with organisations across manufacturing, logistics, engineering, chemical, food, construction, waste management and recycling sectors, building long‑term commercial relationships and driving sustained territory growth.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development — Proactively identify, engage and convert new customers across industrial, plant, waste and recycling sectors.
Technical Sales — Specify weighing, sensor and data‑acquisition solutions, from standard installations to fully integrated systems within complex industrial environments.
Territory Management — Manage the Scotland region independently, ensuring strong market presence and comprehensive coverage.
Account Growth — Expand existing accounts, increase product penetration and secure repeat business.
Client Re‑activation — Re‑establish relationships with dormant clients and convert inactive accounts into revenue.
Sales Achievement — Consistently achieve and exceed sales targets, contributing to sustained territory performance.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
Possess proven experience in technical sales, preferably within sensors, data acquisition, IT/software‑integrated hardware, weighbridges, weighing systems, plant machinery or waste‑handling equipment.
Demonstrate strong commercial instincts and a proactive, results‑driven approach.
Communicate confidently and professionally at all organisational levels.
Operate effectively with autonomy, managing their territory with discipline and resilience.
Hold engineering, IT, software or commercial qualifications (advantageous).
